Tully Park Golf 30/08/2020

Sunday Competition

A great round of 63 nett by Wayne Minney saw him take the monthly medal and win the stroke and C grade for August. Josh Cooper had 69 nett for the A grade win and Chris Elliott took the B Grade with 70. Mick Gray 66, Tim Elliott 67, Craig Langby 69, Gary Spence 70, Alan McDonald 70, Ian Peterson 71, Chris Toole 71, and Don Grimston 72 on countback. The Jewell Builders nearest the Pin was won by Mick Gray and Gary Spence won the Carpet Court Drive and Pitch.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Mick Regteschot scored a countback win over Brian Larkin after both finished the 12 hole event with 24 points. Malcolm Young 23, Elsey Slater and Tim Elliott 22, Trent Cooper 21 headed up the rundown ahead of Chris Elliott, Russel Lieschke, Josh Cooper, Don Grimston, Eddie Hawkins and Ned Slater all on 20. The Kevin Allen Consistency Competition gets underway from this Friday, check the clubhouse windows for details. Thanks to Val Allen for your continued sponsorship of this event.

Ladies

Nicole Minney had a nett 77 for a win in the stroke event last week in the next round of the championships. Ruth Beveridge 79 and Elsey Slater 79 were in the rundown and Julia Scamperle won the putting comp with had 32 putts.

Juniors

Tully Park Juniors have returned to coaching sessions from 8.30am to 10am Saturdays. Juniors can play in the next Slater Drafting Par 3 on Sept 12.

Notices:  Sunday Sept 6 Stroke.  Pindone poison is being used on the course so please keep pets away.  Thank you to our great volunteers for your efforts with the coring last week. Keep an eye out for details of the D.One Accounting “Chicken Run” coming Friday afternoons in Oct. Oct 31 is the mixed foursome event so get your teams ready. Lucky Number draw was won by D Schmitt.

Sunday Competition

The 4 ball aggregate played on Sunday was won by Jeremy Ryan  and Dejan Nedanoski with a score of 65. In the rundown were Josh cooper and Mac Fife on 63 and Chris Ryan and Adam Boxsell on 61. Mac Fife won the Mitre 10 nearest the pin and Chris Ryan won the drive and pitch on Ginny’s Building and Carpentry 1st.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

The 12 hole competition has restarted running Friday mornings until Thursday afternoon.

Juniors

Tully Park Junior golf coaching has restarted with details of the spring program at the www.tullyparkgolf.com  website. 8.30 to 10am. Cost $5 each.

Notices:  Sunday August 30 Stroke Monthly Medal. The annual Kevin Allen Consistency Competition kicks off from Friday September 4, check the clubhouse window for details.   Friday’s 9 hole “chicken run” will start Friday October 9th for 10 weeks cost $5/player with a $20 voucher from D.One accounting. Note that a mixed foursome event will be run on Saturday Oct 31 as a special addition to the calendar, so get your teams organised.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

With the recent flooding of the course and resultant closure the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole comp was cut short. Of those who got in early Tim Elliott played best securing his first Goulburn Soldiers Club  $25 voucher for a rain affected 20 points.

AGM

The club’s Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday and saw the stepping down of Shane Cooper from the Presidency. Shane was thanked greatly for his service and for steering the club through a tough time to its current prosperity. Taking up positions for 2020-21 are Jeremy Ryan (Pres.), Chris Webb (vice Pres), Diana Schmitt (Sec/ Treas.), Russell Schmitt (Capt.), Tom James (Vice Capt.), Joy Leary (Ass. Sec.), and the committee of Joe Fehir, Ken Wray, Kerry Bensley and Gary Spence.

Juniors

The Tully Park – Belconnen team have won their final game against Gungahlin Lakes 3.5 to 2.5 leaving them in 3rd place and possibly just missing the finals by only 0.5 on a for and against. This final round saw Rheannah Webb, in her last season, win 2 up with 1 to play, Ned Slater winning 4 up and 2 to play and Elsey Slater squaring her match. Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

A record was broken with 50 starters for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole event at Tully Park last week. Saxon Oliver won his first competition with a score of 29 points with Jeremy Ryan taking the next spot with 27. On 24 were Phil Brooker, Eddie Hawkins and Stan Gale followed by Alan McDonald and Josh Cooper 23. The rundown also included M Regteschot, N Minney, M Wilson, R Lieschke and K Bensley with 22 and Jeanelle Slater, M Gibson, R Wenban, M Berrisford and C langby all on 21 points for the round. Trent Cooper has taken the eagles nest again with a chip in for 3 on the Chemdry 10th hole.

Sunday Competition

In a heavily rain affected round Lachlan Bill came up trumps with a nett 72. Mick Recteschot was next best on 78.

Ladies

The stroke competition for the ladies last week was won by Julia Scamperle for Division 1 with 72 nett and Beryl Howe for division 2 with 73 nett. The rundown included Joy Leary 74, Ruth Beveridge 76 and Ratna Rankmore on countback with 77. The putting comps were won by Ratna Rankmore 29 and Beryl Howe 32 on countback.

Slater Drafting Par 3

The August round of the Slater Drafting Par 3 is set for this Saturday with tee off from 7.30am to 12pm. This is a great way for family members to learn to play golf together and have some fun. Cost $7/ player. All juniors can play.

Juniors

The Tully Park – Belconnen team have been left in 4th position after the weekend games were washed out. Next Sunday is their final game before finals at Federal against Gungahlin Lakes. Sunday Competition

Trent Cooper and Josh Cooper have backed up from last year to be the 2020 winners of the Foursome Championships held on Sunday after paying 36 holes for a gross of 162. Overall nett went to the team of Alan McDonald and Bruce Dunlop as they carded 144 for the 2 rounds. First round winners were the team of Russell Hillsley and Graham tasker with 69 nett followed by Russell Schmitt and Andrew Oliver 70.5, Alan McDonald and Bruce Dunlop 72.5, Mick Regteschot and Mac Fife 73.5 and Royce Dockett and Simon Jiang 74.

Round 2 winners were Chris Ryan and Ray Turner 69.5 with Lachlan Bill and Tim Elliott 70.5, Trent Cooper and Josh Cooper 70.5, Alan McDonald and Bruce Dunlop 71.5 and Mick Regteschot and Mac Fife 71.5. Nearest the pinon the Mitre 10 fifth hole went to Alan McDonald (Rd 1) and Josh Cooper (Rd 2) and on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th were Jeremy Harrison (Rd 1) and Mick Regteschot (Rd 2).

Chris Ryan took the honours last week for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole event with 25 points. Greg Maskill and Lindsay Sergeant were next best on 24 followed by Andrew Oliver, Mark Berrisford, Di Schmitt, Ken Wray and Russell Lieschke all on 22. Wayne Brown, Stephen Rigby and Alan McDonald each had 21 Dejan Nedanoski scored 20 and in a 5 card countback Eddie Hawkins took the last ball on 19.

Ladies

Wet weather forced the ladies out of a game last week.

Juniors

Junior pennants returned in Canberra on Sunday with Elsey Slater squaring her match and Rheannah Webb winning hers 5 up with 4 to play as the Tully park – Belconnen team went down to the Yowani team. Their next match is against Queanbeyan.
