Tully Park Golf 26/9/2021

Tully Park Golf Club

Unfortunately, due to the covid rules and the growing Sunday competition numbers at Tully we have to implement a ‘No Social Play until after 11.30am on Sundays” rule. We apologise for any inconvenience but this is to keep the course numbers down while the lockdowns and 2 per group are in force.

Sunday Competition

Damien O’Brien shone for his first competition round with a nett 60 to win the C Grade and take the September Monthly Medal. Andrew Balabka was next best with 61 followed by Mitch Cook 64, Trent Cooper 66 and A grade winner, Tom James (B Grade winner) and Ryan Wilson both on 67. The rundown for the 48 starters went to 71. Trent Cooper managed 2 eagles one each on the Merino Fuels 3rd and Chris Ryan Plumbing 18th as well as the nearest the pin on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th. Chris  Ryan won the drive and pitch on Ginny’s Building and Carpentry 1st.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

Breaking records again at Tully, 71 starters played in the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole comp and the second round of the Kevin Allen Consistency. Last week’s winner on 28 points was Don Grimston with a strong field close behind including Helena Regterschot, Tom Heath, and Ruth Beveridge all on 27. On 26 were Adam Bruckshaw, Elsey Slater and Kade Watling followed by Beryl Howe and Tony Clewett both on 25 in a rundown that went to 21 for a 6 card countback.  Leading after round 2 are Jon Gegg and Elsey Slater both on 51 while Don Grimston and Bryan Norris are next best both on 50.

The annual Kevin Allen Consistency Comp has commenced and round 3 of the 6 week comp is under way. The prize vouchers of $100 (with thanks to Val Allen), $60 and $30 will  be awarded at the end.

Ladies

Heather Buchanan played well for a 4 under round nett 65 last week in the stroke event to take division 1. Ruth Beveridge also had a good round to win division 2 with nett 66. Beryl Gray had 70, Joy Leary and ratna Rankmore both had 71. Putting prizes went to Heather and Ruth with 28 and 32 respectively.

Notices:  October 3 Stableford. Championships are Oct 23/24 and 30/31 and to qualify for the overall titles you need at least 10 handicapped rounds over the 12 months to Oct 23. The tickets for the Bi-Rite Xmas Guessing Competition will be available soon with over $750 worth of prizes. The BioCleanse ambrose 2 Person event will commence from Oct 29. Thanks to Luke and our superb volunteers for their work around the course and clubhouse in recent weeks. Your efforts are giving us a place to play.

Sunday Competition

A field of 43 players contested the stableford event on Sunday to see Don Grimston handle the conditions best for his 40 points. Andrew Tivey won on countback for second place with 35 over Tom James who also managed the drive and pitch on Aaron’s trees 12th. The rundown commenced with Gary Spence, Jon Gegg and Alan McDonald all on 34, Josh Cooper, Alan Bill, Mitch Cook, Paul Wray and Eddie Sivell all on 33 and after a 7 card countback Mark Berrisford, Trent Cooper, Simon Jiang and Russell Lieschke all on 32. Russ Schmitt won the Mitre 10 nearest the pin on the 5th.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

With the biggest field ever of 67 for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole competition and the Kevin Allen consistency comp it is looking like being a tough challenge for all who take part, and this is only round 1. Jon Gegg stamped his name as the one to chase returning 30 points ahead of Roy McNair on 27. On 26 were Bryan Norris and Ryan Wilson, followed by Stan Geale, Elsey Slater, Mark Berrisford and Alan Bill all on 25. The rundown went to 22 in an 8 card countback. This is still anyone’s race.

The annual Kevin Allen Consistency Comp has commenced and runs for another 5 weeks. The best round for a player each week in the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole comp  is included and the best 4 of these over the 6 weeks count towards the prize vouchers of $100 (with thanks to Val Allen), $60 and $30.

Ladies

Elsey Slater took division in the Ladies stableford comp last Monday with her round of 34 points. Jane Kilmister took division 2 with 33 points. Ratna Rankmore scored 32, Beryl gray 30 and Di Schmitt 29 for the rundown. Elsey also won the nearest the pin on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th hole.

Annual General Meeting has been postponed to November 7 at 1pm. The new committee for 2021/22 are Jeremy Ryan (Pres), Di Schmitt (Sec/ Treasurer), Joy Leary (assist. Tr), Tom James (Vice Pres), Russ Schmitt (Capt) and committee Gary Spence, Ken Wray, Chris Webb, Mick Regterschot, Kerry Bensley, and Joe Fehir.

Sunday Competition

Chris Arnold held on for a countback win in Sunday’s Par event with +1 and Roly Wong took second also with +1. Next best was Tim Elliott +1. The rundown included Brandon Courts, Ken Wray, Simon Jiang Mick Regterschot, Alan Bill, Russell Lieschke and Ryan Wilson all finishing square, Paul Wray and Ray Turner had -1. Mark Berrisford was nearest the pin on the Workers Club 8th and Chris Ryan won the drive and pitch on the Carpet Court 16th. Trent Cooper made eagle on the Agency 15th.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

James Will performed best of the 43 starters in the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole competition last week with 27 points. Showing his return to form Ron Nunn was again second best on 26. Elsey Slater made 25 followed by Tim Elliott, Wayne James, and Lindsay Sergeant all on 24. On 23 were Josh Ryrie, Russ Schmitt and mark Berrisford  and after a 7 card countback Malcolm Young, Kerry Bensley, Trent Cooper and Josh Watling all on 22.

Georgina Cook’s 76 nett put her at the top of division 1 last week for the Ladies stroke event while Beryl Gray took div 2 with 77. The rundown included Heather Buchanan 79, Beryl Howe 79 and June Spillane 82. Putting prowess was shown by Joy Leary 32 and June Spillane 33 for each division.

Slater Drafting Par 3

Beryl Howe will lose some shots after she won the adult division of the Slater Drafting par 3 with 23 nett as will Elsey Slater for her 26 in the junior division. With 32 starters the rundown included Alan McDonald, James Will, Helena Regterschot and Alan Bill all on 27, Ross Stacey, Graham Mansfield, Beryl Gray, Jane Kilmister, Angus O’Brien and Damien O’Brien all on 28.

Sunday Competition

Brandon Courts had 40 points on Sunday to take the top spot for the stableford event with Ken Wray taking second on a countback for 37 points over Russ Schmitt. Roly Wong makes his first appearance in the rundown for his 36 with Ray Turner, Tony Clewett and Ryan Wilson all on 35 and Angus Regterschot and Ian Peterson both on 33 after a 5 card countback. Ron Nunn was nearest the pin on the Goulburn Soldiers Club hole and Mitch Cook won the drive and pitch on the D.One Accounting hole.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

45 starters played in the Goulburn Soldiers club 12 hole comp last week with Jack Murdoch taking top honours with 29 points. Ron Nunn was next best on 27 with Russell Lieschke, Trent Cooper, Mick Regterschot and Tom James all not far behind on 25. With 24 points were Elsey slater, Tony Clewett and Michael Brown and on 23 were Jon Gegg and Di Schmitt. The rundown finished on 22 with a 7 card countback going in favour of Eddie Hawkins, Jane Kilmister and Brian Larkin.

Ladies

Heather Buchanan hit her stride last week to return 38 points in the Ladies stableford event and take division 1. Jane Kilmister scored 34 for a division 2 win. In the rundown were Georgina Cook 37, Di Schmitt 34 and Beryl Howe 32.

Slater Drafting Par 3

The September Par 3 at Tully is on this Saturday with tee off from 7.30am to 11am. All new and regular golfers are welcome to play with a cost of only $7/player.
