Tully Park Golf 26/8/18

Sunday Competition

Russell Schmitt played steadily to win the Stroke event and B Grade Monthly Medal on Sunday with a 63 nett. Graham Tasker returned 64 and Tom Heath 65 (and  A Grade winner) followed by Ray Turner 67 and Chris Elliott 67 and drive and pitch winner on the Gordon Hotel 11th . Eddie Sivell took the C Grade nett on 73. Nearest the pin on the Capital Country Plumbing 7th was Russell Lieschke.

 Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Brian Larkin led the way with 29 points for the 12 holes ahead of a high scoring field. Don Grimston and Graham Tasker both made 27 and John Blair and Chris Ryan returned 26 each. Ned Slater rounded off the rundown after a countback and lowered his handicap yet again for his 24 points.

Juniors

Golf Pro Peter Hayhoe will run a clinic for juniors during the school holidays sponsored by the Goulburn Soldiers Club on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm. Cost $20/junior/day call Peter on 0413872785 or the Goulburn Soldiers Club on 48213300 to book a spot.

Ladies

The stableford event last Monday saw Ratna Rankmore the best performer with 39 points to win division 1 while Beryl Howe took division 2 with 33. Georgina Cook won nearest the pin on the Capital Country Plumbing 7th and was in the rundown on 34 followed by Heather Buchanan 30.

Notices: September 2 Par event.  September 7 sees the start of the annual Kevin Allen Consistency Competition (with thanks to Val Allen) played in conjunction with the Goulburn Soldiers 12 hole competition or the Sunday comp.  Players are reminded you can beat the winter frosts for non-championship rounds by playing on Saturdays for the Sunday competition, monthly medals can only be won on the Sunday. Thanks to the hard working volunteers for their efforts with spiking and fertilising the fairways before the rain. Coring is set for this Saturday. Tee markers on the 12th tee are now back to normal.

All players are asked to check the blackboard for changes to play conditions due to the walking track work.

Life Membership Awarded

Joy Leary and Kerry Bensley were both recognised for their years of volunteer service to Tully Park Golf Club on Sunday when both were given life membership.

Ladies foursomes Championships

Over Monday and Tuesday the Tully Park Ladies played their foursomes championships. Round 1 saw Beryl Gray and Beryl Howe return 80 nett for the win and round 2 had Gerogina Cook and newcomer Jeanelle Slater come in with 78 nett. Overall winners for the two days Gross title were Judy Moran and Ratna Rankmore on 224 and the nett winners were rising junior player Elsey Slater and her partner Di Schmitt on 161. The rundown for each day were D Schmitt/ E Slater 80.5 and  J Spillane/ R Beveridge 80.5 for R1,  and R Beveridge/ J Spillane 86.5 and B Howe/ B Gray 90 for R2.  

Sunday Competition

Ken Wray dominated in the cold conditions with 39 points on Sunday followed by Jeremy Harrison 36, Don Grimston 35 and Tom James 35. Russell Lieschke won the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas 13th as well as the mystery holes on the 2nd, Goulburn Soldiers Club 9th and Carpet Court 16th.

Tully Junior Ned Slater hit his straps last week scoring 28 points to win the Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher. Close behind was john Peterson on 27 then daylight to the rest of the field with John Blair 22, Bryan Norris 21 and Brian Larkin 21 on countback making up the rundown. Sunday Competition

Phil Elliott and Jeremy Harrison are the 2018 Foursomes Champions for 2018 after a two round total of 171. Josh Cooper and Anthony Cooper are the Net Winners after a countback for their 143. Round 1 winners were Graham Tasker and Ron Nunn on 67.5 nett while Jeremy Harrison and Phil Elliott took round 2 with 70.

The rundowns included Josh Cooper/ Anthony Cooper 69 and Alan Bill/ Russell Schmitt 72 for round 1 , and Shane Cooper / Trent Cooper 73 and Josh Cooper/ Anthony Cooper 74 for round 2. Eddie Hawkins was nearest the pin on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Bryson Plumb lifted to score 27 points last week and take home the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher. Bryan Norris was again consistent with 24 followed by Greg Maskill and John Peterson both in the rundown on 21 after a countback.

Notices: August 19 Stableford followed by the AGM at 1pm. Thank you to our volunteers who helped prepare the course and clubhouse for the championships and assisted with the catering on the day.

Multiquip Par 3

Elsey Slater pulled off another win on Saturday in the Par 3 and lost more shots off her Par 3 handicap after a countback win on 21 over Beryl Gray. The next Par 3 is on September 8.

Tully Park Golf Club

Tully Park Golf Club gives welcome to PGA Golf Professional Peter Hayhoe who will be taking bookings from people for private lessons at Tully. Peter can be contacted by phone 0413 872 785 or email at golfpropete@hotmail.com .  Peter will also help out with the Tully juniors giving them a much needed boost to their skills on Saturday mornings in a few weeks time. Check out his flyer in the clubhouse window.

Sunday Competition

Russell Lieschke was in form on Sunday as he won the stableford event with 40 and took home the nearest the pin on the Workers Club 8th and the Drive and Pitch on the Carpet Court 16th. Eddie Sivell was next best after a countback for 40 then Josh Cooper 38, Ray Turner 38 and Chris Elliott 37 made up the rundown.

4 Ball District Par Event

Sunday saw the teams of Jeremy Harrison /Gary Spence and Shane Cooper /Trent Cooper play at Fairbairne for the 4 Ball Par district final. Both teams found the course tough with results of -1 and -6 respectively in an event where positive scores are sought.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

An eagle by Bryan Norris on the Classique Chemdry 10th hole secured him a win with 27 points last week closely followed by Mark Berrisford 26, Martell Maher, Tony Clewett and Ron Nunn all on 25 points and Sharon Scott rounding out the rundown with 21 on countback..

Notices: August 12 is the annual Foursomes championships with both rounds 1 and 2 being played on the day with a lunch included in the $30/person with tee off for all players at 7.30. Players are reminded you can beat the winter frosts for non-championship rounds by playing on Saturdays for the Sunday competition.  The Annual General Meeting on August 19 at 1pm agenda items and nominations for the committee are now being accepted. 

Thanks to the hard working volunteers for their work on watering the greens and for those looking after  the clubhouse and gardens, your effort have not gone unnoticed.  

August Par 3 event is on Saturday the 11th with tee off from 8am to 12pm. All new and skilled golfers are welcome.

Ladies

Georgina Cook won division 1 with 32 points last Monday while Beryl Howe took division 2 with 33 points. Ratna Rankmore had a welcome return with nearest the pin on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th  and made it into the rundown with Heather Buchanan and June Spillane.
