Tully Park Golf 26/04/20

Sunday Competition

Ian Peterson’s nett 64 (A grade) had him scrape home over Sam McDonald 65 (B Grade) and show the way to 35 others for the stroke event on Sunday. In the rundown and getting the C grade win was Wayne Minney 66, followed by Mac Fife 67, Simon Jiang, John Smith, Chris Elliott, and Phil Elliott all on 68. On 69 were Trent Cooper, Lachlan Bill, and Ken Wray. Michael Wilson had 70 and Russell Lieschke and Eddie Hawkins both finished with 71 nett.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Garry Handley stunned everyone with a 30 point round for the 12 hole Goulburn Soldiers Club competition last week. Lachlan Bill was unlucky that his 3 under off the stick was rewarded only with 2nd place. Chris Ryan had 24, followed by Gordon Rankmore, Ratna Rankmore, John Smith, Ron Nunn and Mark Berrisford all on 23. Don Grimston, Brian Larkin, Simon Jiang, Mick Gray and Jason Slater (in his first 12 hole rundown place) all made 22 with Malcolm Young, Beryl Gray, Nicole Minney and Craig Langby in a 6 card countback for the rundown.

Minor Championships

Round 1 of the minor championships is underway and concludes at the end of Thursday. Already the largest field in years sees 2 divisions in the men’s section and one for the ladies with weekly prizes and overalls winners at the end of the year.

Par 3

The next Slater Drafting Service Par 3 is on May 9 with tee off 7.30 to 12pm.

Ladies

Sharon Scott took division 1 top spot last Monday with a nett 71 for the championship round. Nicole Minney recent efforts in the 12 hole Comp held her in good stead for the division 2 honours with 65. Julia Scamperli 73, Jeanelle Slater 73, Ruth Beveridge 74 and Heather Buchanan 75 were all in the rundown. Julia also won the putting for div 1 with 29 while Di Schmitt won the div 2 prize with 32.

Sunday Competition

Trent Cooper was in form on his way to 40 points in Sunday’s stableford event. Jeremy Harrison made 37 and Lachlan Bill 36 in a field of 33 starters. Chris Ryan had 35, while Kerry Bensley, Ray Turner, John Smith and Tom James all made 34. Sam McDonald, Tom Heath and James Douglas all returned 33 followed by Russell Lieschke and Mac Fife 32 with Eddie Hawkins on countback for his 31 for the rundown. Lachlan Bill also took the eagles nest for his 3 on the par 5 Chris Ryan Plumbing 18th hole   

Please note that all Sunday competitions until further notice will be individual stableford or stroke events. 

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Terry Nixon took top honours last week with 27 points to win the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher from a field of 43 players. Josh Cooper won the eagles nest on the Chem Dry 10th on his way, along with Mac Fife, to 24 points. Included in the rundown were Eddie Hawkins and Russell Lieschke both on 23, Lachlan Bill, Garry Handley and Alan Bill each with 22, Lindsay Sergeant, John Smith and Phil Elliott with 21, and , Bryan Norris, Chris Ryan , Russell Schmitt, Chris Ryan, Mick Gordon, Mark Berrisford  and Ron Nunn, all on 20 on countback.    

Minor Championships

Minor Championships start from April 24 and each round is run over the week (Fri – Thurs) for the three weeks following. Cost is $15/ person/ round and is played in conjunction with either the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole or an 18 hole event. Each player can only play a championship round once in the week from Friday to Thursday. Playing any other round during the week is the normal comp fee. Remember this is a stroke event so do not pick up for the 12 holes. 2/3 handicaps are in the clubhouse window. There will be nett prizes for divisions 1, 2 and ladies for each round and overall grade gross and nett prizes at presentation. 

Juniors

Sorry but all junior coaching will cease for the current time but will resume when allowed by Golf NSW. Par 3’s will still be on each month as shown on the program.

Ladies

Sharon Scott made 26 points to win division 1 for the Tully Ladies last week with Ruth Beveridge making 28 for division 2. Ratna Rankmore was nearest the pin for the Capital Country Plumbing 7th hole. Heather Buchanan and Beryl Gray both made the rundown with 25 points.

Sunday Competition

Ian Peterson led the way in over the large field of 37 on Sunday with 39 points. Jeremy Harrison made 38, while Kerry Bensley and Tom James both finished with 37. Lachlan Bill 35, Tom Heath and Anthony Cooper both 34 were next best followed by Josh Cooper, Wayne Minney, Ryan Saville, Ray Turner and John Smith all on 33. Chris Ryan, Ken Wray and Sam McDonald each scored 32 in a rundown that went to 31 on countback. Mac Fife managed the best of his game when it counted, over the three mystery holes of the B C Training 6th, Classique Chem – Dry 10th and Argyle Cleaning 17th for 8 points.  

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole comp

A big week for the Goulburn Soldiers 12 hole competition with 42 starters. Craig Langby was the eventual winner with 26 points followed closely by Malcolm Young and Chris Ryan 25. On 24 were Mick Gray, Mark Berrisford, Jeanelle Slater, Gordon Rankmore and Phil Elliott. Scoring 23 Mick Gordon, Wayne James, Bryan Norris, John Smith, Lachlan Bill, Ratna Rankmore and Ross Stacey with Lindsay Sergeant on 22 on countback making up the rundown.

Ladies

Last weeks stroke event was won by Heather Buchanan for division 1 with nett 73 and Beryl Howe for division 2 with 79. June Spillane 81 and Ratna Rankmore 82 were in the rundown. Joy Leay was the division 1 putting winner with 30. Beryl Howe also won the putting for div 2 with 31.

Sunday Competition

Ray Turner and John Smith team up nicely to take out the American Foursomes at Tully Park Golf Club on Sunday with a nett 64.5. They were followed by a strong field that included Darrell Spence /Kerry Bensley 65, Wayne and Nicole Minney 66.5, Ryan Wilson/ Ryan Saville 66.5, Russell Lieschke/ Eddie Hawkins 67, Josh Cooper/ Mac Fife 67 and Trent Cooper/ Lachlan Bill 68.5.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

A welcome return to the winners circle for Ron Wenban last week as he scored 22 points in a countback win over Russell Schmitt and Wayne Minney. Di Schmitt also made the rundown with 19 points. The 12 hole Goulburn Soldiers Club competition is now back in full swing but remember to maintain social distancing and only 2 people to a group.

Slater Drafting Par 3

Cooper Cargill showed how much you can improve with a bit of Tully coaching as he took home the $25 voucher from Slater Drafting. Cooper scored 25 nett to just beat Tom Heath and Ron Nunn both of whom scored 26, and Jeanelle, Jason and Elsey Slater all who made 27. The next Par 3 is on May 9.

Di Schmitt won the stableford event last week with 31 points. June Spillane 28 and Beryl Gray 25 made the rundown.  

Notices:  Sunday April 12 stableford.   We have now opened again with some slight changes for all to adhere to. Some of these are: comp players will need to bring correct change (esp. the Sunday players) and use the honesty box for money and cards. Players to bring own sanitiser for hands (and carts, if hired for Sun or Mon/Tues comps, only 1 person/cart and 1 set clubs). Groups are required to be of 2 players only. No food or drink available as the clubhouse will be closed for the current time.  Carts are only available to the Comp players for the Sunday mens and Mon/ Tues Ladies comps due to logistics of cleaning.  A full list of instructions regarding play is at the clubhouse.
