Tully Park Golf 10/7/16

Sunday Competition

Round 2 of the Pairs event was run on Sunday as a Foursomes with some changes in the leaderboard. The day was won by Col Eggins and Ron Nunn with a nett 67 closely followed by the team of Josh and Anthony Cooper 67.5. Also making the rundown were Gary Spence and Ray Turner 72, Mick Harris and Eddie Sivell 72.5 and Brian Mills and Tom Heath 72.5.  Nearest the pin was won by Russell Schmitt.

Col and Ron now move to the leading position of the 3 event competition with -6.5 with Josh and Anthony close on -4.5 and Russell Schmitt and Lachlan Bill on -3.   The third and final round is the 4 Ball Aggregate played on September 11.

Goulburn Soldiers Competition

The heavens were not kind this week washing out any play in the Goulburn Soldiers Club event. Hopefully better weather this week will allow players to get their rounds in this week.

Notices: Next Sunday (July 17) is a 2 person Ambrose. Players are reminded that memberships are now due with those not paid by the AGM on August 14 suspended from golflink. Agenda items for the AGM are due by July 24 and nominations for the committee positions are due by August 7. Players interested in Pennants for 2017 are asked to put their names down in the clubhouse as a team nomination is required by the AGM. Thanks Royce for all of your hours of work on the course.

Goulburn Soldiers Weekly Competition

Matt highland braved the cooler temperatures to record an excellent 32 points for the 12 hole competition leaving the remainder of the field in his wake.  His father Mick came in next best on 24 followed by Tony Clewett 23, Russell Schmitt 21 and Eddie Hawkins 20.

Par 3

The monthly Par 3 event is growing in interest as newcomer to the event Chris Toole took out his first win on 22 nett ahead of several players on 24. Ned Slater won the junior division for his second win in two weeks in the junior events, this time with a nett 21. The next event is on August 6.

Sunday Competition

Russell Lieschke scored 38 points to steal a win in the stableford event on Sunday just pipping out Tom Heath, Trent Cooper and Mick Harris (all on 37), and Lachlan Bill, Alan Bill and Gary Spence all on 36 points. Ron Nunn won the Mystery holes on 7 points on a 4 card countback for the Goulburn Produce Mitre 10 5th, Gordon Hotel 11th and the 17th holes.

Nearest the pins went to Brian Mills (5th hole Goulburn Produce Mitre 10), Ian Peterson (RSM Bird Cameron 7th) and Lachlan Bill (Workers Club 8th).

Notices: Next Sunday July 10 is Foursomes and the second round of the $100 prize Pairs event. Thanks to the Webb family for their trophy donation. Anyone who would like to donate a $30 trophy for the Sunday competition please contact the committee to put your name down. Players interested in the 2017 Pennants team should put their names down in the clubhouse before the AGM so we can determine the viability of entering a team for the competition.   The AGM is on August 14 with Agenda items to be registered before July 24 and committee nominations by August 7.

Goulburn Soldiers Weekly Competition

Recent unfavourable weather brought the river up leaving players to negotiate the longer inland course. John Peterson handled the conditions best returning 21 points to win the Goulburn Soldiers Club $25 voucher for the week. In the rundown were Tony Clewett 20 and Bryson Plumb 18.

The 12 hole competition is great in winter with only a couple of hours to get around so come down and have a hit.

 

Sunday Competition

Gary Spence proved too good for the field in the frost on Sunday as he carded the only sub par nett round for the day with a 66 to take the A grade medal for June. Trent Cooper (71) Josh Cooper (71) and B Grade winner and Alan Bill (71) and C Grade winner along with Tom Heath (72) made up the rundown. Josh Cooper took the Goulburn Produce nearest the pin  while Lieschke took the same for Workers Club hole.The RSM Bird Cameron hole was not won.

Thanks to Tony Clewett for his trophy donation, anyone else who has a voucher donation to make please bring it in . The popular Par Three event is on next Saturday (July 2nd) with all golfers and non-golfers welcome to play. Tee off from 8am to 3pm.

Next Sunday (July 3) is a stableford. All recent winners are reminded that the Gordon Hotel prize vouchers will run out this Thursday so get in and use them. Round 2 of the Pairs event (Foursomes) is on the following Sunday (10th).  Our AGM is on August 14 and members are reminded if they have items for the agenda to get them in before July 24. Our great committee is after newcomers so for those interested please fill out a nomination form.

Goulburn Soldiers Weekly Competition

In a low scoring round Russell Schmitt scrambled ahead to take the honours with 24 points. Close behind were John Peterson and Eddie Hawkins both with 23 and Chris Webb 22. The rundown included Brian Larkin 21 and Bryson Plumb 20. Thank you to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for their continued support of this competition.

 

Sunday Competition

A healthy turnout for the Three Person Ambrose proved well timed as all players beat the precipitation that fell. Completing the quinella for the week Russell Schmitt teamed up with Lachlan and Alan Bill to share the load and card a respectable 5 under off the stick to finish with 56 nett. Second place went to the consistent team of Brian Mills, Tom Heath and Eddie Sivell on 59  1/6.  Nearest the pins went to Ken Wray on the 5th hole sponsored by Gouburn Produce and Mitre 1, the RSM Bird Cameron 7th went to Mick Harris while the Goulburn Workers Club 8th was taken out by Ian Peterson.

Next Sunday is Stroke Monthly Medal. Thanks to all who have so far donated $30 vouchers for the Sunday prize pool. A big thanks to Royce Dockett for all of his hard efforts around the course and especially for his work on tidying the 5th tee.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Weekly Event

With heavy rains washing out many players for the week, only the diehards ventured out for a round. Matt Hyland managed only 18 points for the inland 12 holes but was able to score himself a win last week just tipping out his father Mick who made 17. With the rains passed for the time being the course is quickly coming back to its grassy glory will entice more out for the next weekly round.

Sunday Competition

Tom Heath was a winner on countback for his 35 points in the Stableford event on Sunday just pipping resident stalwart Kevin Peterson. Russell Lieschke and Ian Peterson both made 34 and Gary Spence 33 on countback madeup the rundown.Tom Also claimed nearest the pin honours on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 5th hole while Russell Schmitt showed some form making it onto the RSM Bird Cameron 7th.

Notices: July 19 is a 3 person Ambrose so get your teams ready. The second round of the Pairs event will be the Foursomes on July 10 with the 4 Ball Stableford Aggregate Sept 11 becoming round 3 and the Tully v RSL event. Anyone able to donate a $30 voucher for the Sunday trophy please place your name on the list in the clubhouse. Just a reminder that memberships are due so please get them in soon.

Ladies Goulburn Post Shield

Congratulations to the Tully ladies for their 60 point win last Monday over the team from Goulburn. Leading strongly from the front was Rheannah Webb on 41 points and Berryl Gray on 34. This was the 50th anniversary of the event and is a popular inclusion to the local Ladies calendar.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Joy Leary carried over her good form from the Tully Park v Goulburn Ladies on Monday to score a win in the 12 hole stableford event this week. Joy made 24 points to finish ahead of Berryl Gray 22, Bryson Plumb 21, Brian Larkin 20 and Judy Moran 19 for the rundown.

Sunday Competition

Water -wings were required equipment for the course on Sunday as the heavens sent down the much required rain. The 4 Ball stableford Aggregate event was washed out leaving the second round of the Pairs Event to be rescheduled to September 11.  The third round is the foursomes on July 10.

Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

The final Gordon Hotel sponsored Sunday competition was a low scoring round for almost everyone with honours going to Ian Peterson on 65 nett as he took out the A grade and stoke win. Chris Elliott took B Grade honours and Royce Dockett the C Grade with both making 67 nett. Along with Russell Lieschke on 67 they were the only players to break par for the round. Tony Clewett also made the rundown on 69.  Nearest the pin on the 5th hole sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10  went to Chris Elliott while the Workers Club 8th went to Ian Peterson. The RSM Bird Cameron 7th was not won. Congratulations to Brian Mills on his raffle win for the day.

Next, Sunday May 5, is the annual Tully Park v RSL 4BBB Stableford day with a big roll up able to enjoy a BBQ afterwards. Round 2 of the Tully Pairs Event will be run in conjunction with this event.

Saturday May 4 is the monthly Par 3 event. Tee off from 8am to 3pm with all regular and new to golf players welcome to come and enjoy the fun.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Eddie Sivell has again taken the prize voucher for the week with a countback win over Tony Clewett for 26 points. Brian Larkin, Don Grimston and Berryl Gray made 24 points and Kevin Peterson finished the rundown on 23.

Thank you to our tireless volunteers who braved the wet and cold conditions last week working on the course and clubhouse.

Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

The first round of the pairs event has been won by the team of Lachlan Bill and Russell Schmitt with a nett score of 62. Hot on their heels were Kevin and Ian Peterson on 62 .25 and the ball rundown (to 64.5 on countback) included Mick Harris and Troy Rosevear, and Ray Turner and Gary Spence. Several other teams are within striking distance with 2 more rounds to go comprising 4BBB stableford on June 5 and Foursomes on July 10. Anyone can win with some strong teams entering for the two $100 vouchers on offer.

Nearest the pins for the day were John Smith on the 5th hole sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, Bryan Norris on the RSM 7th and Darrell Spence on the Workers Club 8th.

Next Sunday May 29 is the Stroke monthly medal round and the final Sunday event sponsored by the Gordon Hotel. We thank them greatly for their support and generosity over the recent years.

Last weeks winner was Tony Clewett with a score of 27 points for the 12 hole event. The ball rundown included Anthony Cooper and Bryan Norris both on 23 and Josh Cooper 21, Margaret Gibson 19 and John Peterson on 18

Congratulations to Rheannah Webb for her 2nd place finish in the junior staleford division  at the Murrumbidgee Ladies day on Sunday. She scored 34 points for her round.

Minor Championships

A stellar 1-under off the stick for the final round of the Championships saw Trent Cooper leave all other contenders in his wake for the A grade crown. Trent finished with a gross 43 seeing him win the overall with 144 for the three rounds. Nett winner for the round was Mick Gray with 41 which saw him take the overall nett with 124.

The B grade final round went to Tim James with 54 gross and nett of 43 1/3. This took Tim to the top of the B grade ladder for the gross with 177 while Brian Mills managed the nett honours with 137.

The C grade round was again taken out by Roy McNair who has been losing shots regularly over recent weeks. Roy managed a gross 55 and nett 39 2/3 to also win the overall gross with 168. Tony Clewett was the nett winner after three weeks with 130 2/3.

With some hard fought rounds in the recent bad weather the Ladies Gross for the week was won by Debbie Collins on 53 helping her to take top honours with 176. Berryl Howe won the nett for the round with 44 1/3 but it was not enough to overcome the overall nett score of Rheannah Webb with 142 2/3. A delight for Rheannah as her handicap has also been reduced over the competition.
Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

Kevin and Ian Peterson combined to win the 4 ball Par event with a +9 just ahead of the teams of Anthony and Josh Cooper, Russ Schmitt and Lachlan Bill, and Tom Heath and Brian Mills who all finished on +8 (countback). John Smith won the Mitre 10 Goulburn Produce 5th and Lachlan Bill the Workers Club 8th for the nearest the pins. The RSM 7th was not won

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek Competition

Recent top form had Trent Cooper lead the way last week with an impressive 30 points for the round to only just scrape home against a strong field with Roy McNair on 29, Mick Gray 27, and Brian Larkin 26 all taking home balls in the rundown that went to 24. The Goulburn Soldiers Club midweek competition is a great challenge for time poor golfers who like a challenge and runs every day of the week.

Next Sunday May 22 is a 2 person Ambrose and the first round of the Pairs Event. The second round is a 4BBB stableford on June 5 and welcomes the annual interclub challenge between the Tully Park and Goulburn Soldiers club teams. The third round is Foursomes on July 10. Minor Championships Round 2

A three way lead for the gross will be settled in the next week of golf at Tully Park as the A Grade hots up with Russell Lieschke, Trent Cooper and Ray Turner all sitting on 101 after the first 2 rounds. The A grade nett is led by Mick gray on 83 after he won last weeks nett with 41 on a countback.
The B grade sees Chris Elliott and Eddie Sivell in front with each having 114 for the gross. Eddie also leads the overall nett with 88 while Ron Wenban was last weeks winner with 43 nett.
C grade has let Roy McNair get away a bit with his 2 round total of 113 and nett of 81. He also won last weeks nett with 39 after another good round. Others are close so the pressure is still on for the final outing this week.
The Ladies has  Debbie Collins leading the way with a gross of 114 and Rheannah Webb setting the nett benchmark at 95 1/3. Rheannah also won last weeks nett with her 42  2/3 finish.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek

Another tight field played some tough pin positions last week to eventually reward Roy McNair with a win on 29 points. Mick Gray finished with 27, Rheannah Webb and Tony Clewett both had 26 while Ron Wenban and Ray Turner each had 25. The rundown went to 23.

Gordon Hotel Competition

A band of dedicated golfers played through the light sprinkle on Sunday to eventually see Gary Spence chalk up a deserved win with a nett 64.  Also having a good round was Ray Turner winning 2 of the three nearest -the-pins (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10  5th hole the RSM 7th hole) and taking home a $20 voucher for his efforts as well as featuring in the ball rundown with nett 67.
Next Sunday, May 15, is the Mens 4 Ball Par Qualifier. Anyone seeking to play through to the next round will need to bring $15 for the round to pay the required nomination. The following week, May 22,  is the first round of the pairs event being played over  3 Sundays with 2 person Ambrose, 4BBB Stableford (June 5)and Foursomes (July 10) events. $100 each is up for grabs for the overall winning team. Membership notices will be sent out soon and are due the end of July.
Par 3
With 28 starters contesting the popular monthly Par 3 event the competition was fierce with some outstanding scores being posted. Taking the wins were Christine Norris with a nett 20 for her first win in the adult section while for the juniors, last months winner Will Hyland backed up again to score a net 12 and be in line to lose quite a few more shots for next month. Newcomer Ned Slater also proved he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in years to come as he played to a nett 28 for his first run in the event. The next one is on June 4.
