Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

The final Gordon Hotel sponsored Sunday competition was a low scoring round for almost everyone with honours going to Ian Peterson on 65 nett as he took out the A grade and stoke win. Chris Elliott took B Grade honours and Royce Dockett the C Grade with both making 67 nett. Along with Russell Lieschke on 67 they were the only players to break par for the round. Tony Clewett also made the rundown on 69.  Nearest the pin on the 5th hole sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10  went to Chris Elliott while the Workers Club 8th went to Ian Peterson. The RSM Bird Cameron 7th was not won. Congratulations to Brian Mills on his raffle win for the day.

Next, Sunday May 5, is the annual Tully Park v RSL 4BBB Stableford day with a big roll up able to enjoy a BBQ afterwards. Round 2 of the Tully Pairs Event will be run in conjunction with this event.

Saturday May 4 is the monthly Par 3 event. Tee off from 8am to 3pm with all regular and new to golf players welcome to come and enjoy the fun.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Eddie Sivell has again taken the prize voucher for the week with a countback win over Tony Clewett for 26 points. Brian Larkin, Don Grimston and Berryl Gray made 24 points and Kevin Peterson finished the rundown on 23.

Thank you to our tireless volunteers who braved the wet and cold conditions last week working on the course and clubhouse.

Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

The first round of the pairs event has been won by the team of Lachlan Bill and Russell Schmitt with a nett score of 62. Hot on their heels were Kevin and Ian Peterson on 62 .25 and the ball rundown (to 64.5 on countback) included Mick Harris and Troy Rosevear, and Ray Turner and Gary Spence. Several other teams are within striking distance with 2 more rounds to go comprising 4BBB stableford on June 5 and Foursomes on July 10. Anyone can win with some strong teams entering for the two $100 vouchers on offer.

Nearest the pins for the day were John Smith on the 5th hole sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, Bryan Norris on the RSM 7th and Darrell Spence on the Workers Club 8th.

Next Sunday May 29 is the Stroke monthly medal round and the final Sunday event sponsored by the Gordon Hotel. We thank them greatly for their support and generosity over the recent years.
Goulburn Soldiers Club Weekly competition
Last weeks winner was Tony Clewett with a score of 27 points for the 12 hole event. The ball rundown included Anthony Cooper and Bryan Norris both on 23 and Josh Cooper 21, Margaret Gibson 19 and John Peterson on 18

Congratulations to Rheannah Webb for her 2nd place finish in the junior staleford division  at the Murrumbidgee Ladies day on Sunday. She scored 34 points for her round.

Minor Championships

A stellar 1-under off the stick for the final round of the Championships saw Trent Cooper leave all other contenders in his wake for the A grade crown. Trent finished with a gross 43 seeing him win the overall with 144 for the three rounds. Nett winner for the round was Mick Gray with 41 which saw him take the overall nett with 124.

The B grade final round went to Tim James with 54 gross and nett of 43 1/3. This took Tim to the top of the B grade ladder for the gross with 177 while Brian Mills managed the nett honours with 137.

The C grade round was again taken out by Roy McNair who has been losing shots regularly over recent weeks. Roy managed a gross 55 and nett 39 2/3 to also win the overall gross with 168. Tony Clewett was the nett winner after three weeks with 130 2/3.

With some hard fought rounds in the recent bad weather the Ladies Gross for the week was won by Debbie Collins on 53 helping her to take top honours with 176. Berryl Howe won the nett for the round with 44 1/3 but it was not enough to overcome the overall nett score of Rheannah Webb with 142 2/3. A delight for Rheannah as her handicap has also been reduced over the competition.

Kevin and Ian Peterson combined to win the 4 ball Par event with a +9 just ahead of the teams of Anthony and Josh Cooper, Russ Schmitt and Lachlan Bill, and Tom Heath and Brian Mills who all finished on +8 (countback). John Smith won the Mitre 10 Goulburn Produce 5th and Lachlan Bill the Workers Club 8th for the nearest the pins. The RSM 7th was not won

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek Competition

Recent top form had Trent Cooper lead the way last week with an impressive 30 points for the round to only just scrape home against a strong field with Roy McNair on 29, Mick Gray 27, and Brian Larkin 26 all taking home balls in the rundown that went to 24. The Goulburn Soldiers Club midweek competition is a great challenge for time poor golfers who like a challenge and runs every day of the week.

Next Sunday May 22 is a 2 person Ambrose and the first round of the Pairs Event. The second round is a 4BBB stableford on June 5 and welcomes the annual interclub challenge between the Tully Park and Goulburn Soldiers club teams. The third round is Foursomes on July 10. Minor Championships Round 2

A three way lead for the gross will be settled in the next week of golf at Tully Park as the A Grade hots up with Russell Lieschke, Trent Cooper and Ray Turner all sitting on 101 after the first 2 rounds. The A grade nett is led by Mick gray on 83 after he won last weeks nett with 41 on a countback.
The B grade sees Chris Elliott and Eddie Sivell in front with each having 114 for the gross. Eddie also leads the overall nett with 88 while Ron Wenban was last weeks winner with 43 nett.
C grade has let Roy McNair get away a bit with his 2 round total of 113 and nett of 81. He also won last weeks nett with 39 after another good round. Others are close so the pressure is still on for the final outing this week.
The Ladies has  Debbie Collins leading the way with a gross of 114 and Rheannah Webb setting the nett benchmark at 95 1/3. Rheannah also won last weeks nett with her 42  2/3 finish.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek

Another tight field played some tough pin positions last week to eventually reward Roy McNair with a win on 29 points. Mick Gray finished with 27, Rheannah Webb and Tony Clewett both had 26 while Ron Wenban and Ray Turner each had 25. The rundown went to 23.

Gordon Hotel Competition

A band of dedicated golfers played through the light sprinkle on Sunday to eventually see Gary Spence chalk up a deserved win with a nett 64.  Also having a good round was Ray Turner winning 2 of the three nearest -the-pins (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10  5th hole the RSM 7th hole) and taking home a $20 voucher for his efforts as well as featuring in the ball rundown with nett 67.
Next Sunday, May 15, is the Mens 4 Ball Par Qualifier. Anyone seeking to play through to the next round will need to bring $15 for the round to pay the required nomination. The following week, May 22,  is the first round of the pairs event being played over  3 Sundays with 2 person Ambrose, 4BBB Stableford (June 5)and Foursomes (July 10) events. $100 each is up for grabs for the overall winning team. Membership notices will be sent out soon and are due the end of July.
Par 3
With 28 starters contesting the popular monthly Par 3 event the competition was fierce with some outstanding scores being posted. Taking the wins were Christine Norris with a nett 20 for her first win in the adult section while for the juniors, last months winner Will Hyland backed up again to score a net 12 and be in line to lose quite a few more shots for next month. Newcomer Ned Slater also proved he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in years to come as he played to a nett 28 for his first run in the event. The next one is on June 4.

Minor Championships Round 1

Russell Lieschke leads the A Grade Gross after the first round of the minor championships with a score of 49. Mick Gray leads the nett with 42. The B grade leader for the Gross and nett is Eddie Sivell 52 and 38 2/3 respectively. The C grade sees Anthony Cooper (56) as the Gross leader while Royce Dockett has taken the first round nett with 37. The Ladies division has Debbie Collins showing the way with a Gross of 54 and Ruth Beveridge has the nett with 45 1/3. Round 2 is underway this week with players able to play in the Gordon Hotel Sunday or Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek events and be included for a cost total of $15. Each round has grade winners for the nett prize.

Goulburn Soldier’s Club Midweek

In a high scoring round, attributed to the great course conditions, Eddie Sivell took out the $25 voucher with a score of 30 points beating veteran stalwart Kevin Peterson and up and coming Jon Gegg in a three person countback. Close on their heels were John Peterson (29), Anthony Cooper (28) Mick Gray and Roy McNair (both 26), Don Grimston (25) and Graham Cave (24 on countback) to make up the rundown.

Gordon Hotel Stableford 01/05/2016

In tough windy conditions Mick Harris set himself apart as the only player to score over the 36 points for par coming in with 37. Col Eggins 35, Ken Wray 35, Trent Cooper 33 and Russell Lieschke 32 made up the rundown for the day. Chris Elliott took home the Mystery Holes prize with 8 points (c/b) and Ian peterson, Tom Heath and Marty Hunter each took out the nearest­the-­pins on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 5th , RSM 7th and Workers Club 8th holes respectively.

This  Saturday is the Par 3 event. Lots of fun for new, returning or regular players. Only takes around 1.5h to play. Tee off from 9am to 3pm. Next Sunday May 8 is a Stroke event and the third round of the Minor Championships. The Pairs Event (Ambrose, Foursomes and 4BBB) commences on May 22 so get your teams ready with $100 vouchers for the overall winners.

 

Highlands Veterans Event at Tully

Last Thursday saw Tully host the Southern Highlands Veterans for a 2 Person Ambrose event. The event was well received with 37 starters for the day all enjoying a great day of golf and wonderful meal afterwards. Thank you to all of the volunteers who assisted with getting the course, clubhouse and food ready .
