Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek Competition

Glorious playing conditions confronted golfers last week at Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club and the competitive nature of the scoring proved testament to the great playing conditions. Roger Holgate’s 25 points over the 12 hole stableford competition was just enough to secure victory and claim the R.S.L. voucher. Russell Schmitt (24), Trent Cooper (24), and Wally Thorn’s 22 points on a count back were all recipients in the ball run down. Alma Harvison claimed the special ball with a total of 10 points.

Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club held their Monthly Medal along with a round of the Kevin Allen Memorial Championship for the clubs most consistent golfer. Marty Hunter claimed the Monthly Medal for May with an outstanding round of nett 65 to claim victory over the inform club President Charlie McDonald on nett 67, Ken Wray nett 68, Gary Spence nett 68, Russell Lieschke nett 69, and Norm Aubrey’s nett 69 rounded out the ball run down. The Drive and Pitch on the Kev’s Quality Meats sponsored 12th hole went to Ken Wray. Nearest the Pin on the Tully Park Tavern sponsored 7th hole was claimed by Chris “Radar” Elliott. Marty Wiese picked up the days special ball wih a nett round of 82. Next Sunday Tully Park will be hosting a Stableford event.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek Competition

Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club’s midweek competition proudly sponsored by the Goulburn Soldiers Club was played in ideal conditions last week with a strong field of competitors taking to the course. Tommy Heath with 25 points over the 12 hole stableford event was the deserved winner finishing one point clear of Russell Schmitt on 24 points. Young gun Trent Cooper was the next best carding a respectable 21 stableford points and rounding out the ball run down last week after a six way count back was Di Schmitt who finished with 20 stableford points. Hellen Carne was the recipient of the special ball carding 8 points over the 12 holes.

Gordon Hotel Sunday Competition

Last Sundays two person ambrose event once again proved to be a popular event with members and visitors alike with people travelling from as far as Cootamundra to take on the challenging 18 hole layout at Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club. The pairing of club President Charlie McDonald and fellow committee member Adam Boxsell proved to strong on the day securing victory with a nett score of 55 and half finishing 4 and a half shots clear of club stalwarts Brian Mills and Tom Heath who finished with a nett 60. Eddie “Jennifer” Hawkins and Russell Lieschke nett 60 and a quarter, Trent and Joshua Cooper rounded out the ball run down with a nett 60 and a half. Tommy Heath once again keeps his name in the headlines claiming nearest the pin honours on the Goulburn Produce sponsored 5th hole. Rampaging Roy McNair darted one in close to secure nearest the pin honours on the Goulburn Workers Club sponsored 8th hole. Next Sunday is the May Monthly Medal along with another round of the Kevin Allen Memorial Championship.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek Competition

Joy Leary’s recent run of good form has finally been rewarded with victory in last weeks Goulburn Soldiers Club sponsored midweek competition held at Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club. Joy’s 24 points over the twelve hole stableford competition proved too strong a total for the remainder of the field to overcome. Beryl Gray displayed glimpses of returning to form herself with a well compiled 23 points while Tom Heath on 22 points rounded out the ball run down. Don Pennay battled his way around the course to secure the special ball with a total of 5 stableford points.

Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club played host to the final round of the club’s Minor Championships on Sunday in more favourable weather conditions in comparison to the previous round of play. Low scoring proved to be the order of the day as Scott Nolan’s course record of 65 gross was good enough to claim overall victory and the Gordon Hotel Bistro voucher. Russell Schmitt nett 64, Eddie Hawkins nett 66, Charlie McDonald nett 67, Phil Elliot nett 67, and Gary Spence nett 67 rounded out the days ball run down. Nearest the pin on the Tully Park Tavern sponsored 7th went to Gary Spence. Adam Boxsell took out the drive and pitch on the Goulburn Workers Club sponsored 16th hole. Sundays special ball was won by Marty Wiese with a nett total of 79. Overall Minor Championships results are as follows: A-Grade, Gary Spence nett 143 won on a count back. Scott Nolan 144 gross. B-Grade, Russell Schmitt nett 139. Colin Eggins 167 gross. C-Grade, Brian Mills nett 144. Phil Elliot 173 gross. Congratulations to all of the winners. Next Sunday the club will be hosting a Two Person Ambrose Event.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Midweek Competition

Last weeks Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Stableford Competition held at Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club saw Kevin Peterson return to the winners circle with a total of 26 stableford points carded over the challenging twelve hole layout. Ladies Club Captain Joy Leary was the next best carding a respectable 22 points, Brian Larkin’s 21 stableford points was good enough to collect a ball in the ball rundown winning on a count-back over Beryl Gray and Margaret Gibson who also carded 21 points. This weeks special ball was won by Bryson Plumb with 5 stableford points.

Tully Park Early Birds Golf Club kicked off the first round of the clubs minor championships on Sunday in what can only be described as extremely challenging conditions to put it politely. With wind gusts up to 60km/hr straight off the Antarctic shelf low scoring was proving to be quite a challenge for the majority of players. Phill Elliott was the man to claim bragging rights after round one with an oustanding nett round of 63 to secure the overall honours and claiming the much sort after Gordon Hotel Bistro voucher. Russell Lieschke leads A-Grade on nett 74, Colin Eggins nett 67 leads B-Grade and Phill Elliots nett 63 has given him total control in C-Grade. Nearest the pin on the Goulburn Workers Club sponsored 8th hole went to Peter Courts. Collin Eggins took out the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas sponsored 13th hole. Colin Eggins nett 67, Brian Mills nett 69, Peter Courts nett 72, Mick Harris nett 72, and Russell Lieschke’s nett 74 on a count-back rounded out the ball rundown. Special ball went to Adam Whiu nett 93. Sundays progressive winner was Brian Mills with 66 stableford points. Next Sunday will be the 2nd and final round of the clubs Minor Championships.
