Sunday Competition

With a nett 65 the score for the day Tony Clewett took home the Stroke event prize and the C Grade Monthly Medal after a countback win over Ron Nunn and Darrell Spence. Enjoying the pennants bye, Tracker Tahana carded a 67 for the B grade medal for his 67  and Gary Spence made 69 for the A grade. The 5th hole nearest the pin sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 went to Ron Nunn while Darrell Spence took the Workers Club 8th. The RSM 7th went unclaimed.

Notices: Sunday March 5 Stableford and monthly meeting for the committee members. Plan ahead for the April 2nd Ambrose event for teams of 2 with over $1500 in prizes with Men’s, Mixed and Social division prizes on offer. Tee off until 9am. Check the result notice board for fliers. Huge thanks to all of the valued members for their assistance in preparing the course and clubhouse for our pennants hosting on Sunday and to those who helped out on the day. It was greatly appreciated by the visiting players and the committee.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole event

Darrell Spence led the way in the 12 hole event last week with a 25 point round. Don Grimston and Chris Ryan both scored 24 and Ron Nunn 23, Bryson Plumb and Brian Larkin 22 made it into the rundown.  With cart hire for the club members playing in Tully competitions only $10 it’s a great way to play comp and support the club.

Pennants

While the B grade team helped out with hosting duties back home the junior players along with their Gold Creek team-mates were chalking up some points against the team from Royal Canberra. Rheannah Webb won her match 2 up and Lachlan Bill won 2 and 1 assisting the team to a 6 -0 win at Belconnen. Next week they play Federal at Federal as the start of the final three matches with all of them against the teams near the top of the ladder.

The men travel to Yowani to play Yass.

Sunday Competition

Eddie Sivell stole the show on Sunday with a superb 44 point round in the stableford event. Chris Webb was pipped at the post with his 43 and Tom Heath finished on 42.  Phil Elliott and Ian Peterson made up the rundown with 37 each on countback. Jim Last was 5th hole nearest the pin winner for Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, the RSM 7th remained unchallenged and Gary Spence won the Workers Club 8th.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 Hole Comp

Ron Nunn carded 26 points last week to win the $25 voucher ahead of Tony Clewett on 25, Beryl Gray, Don Grimston and Ratna Rankmore 24 and Joy Leary on 23 (c/b).

Pennants

The mens B grade handicap team scraped in with a draw this week with Josh Cooper (2 & 1), Ray Turner (4 &2) and Tim James (2 & 1) posting wins. While Marty Hunter (5 &4), Adam Boxsell (3 &2) and Tracker Tahana (1 down) were not so fortunate.   Next week is a bye for the team but their assistance as we host at Tully will be appreciated. The course will be closed to social players until 3pm.

The Tully Park -Gold Creek juniors performed outstandingly on their home turf at Gold Creek securing a 5 to 1 win. Rheannah Webb again provided the impetus winning 7 and 6 and Lachlan Bill maintained his game to win 3 and 1. Ned Slater is gaining  in confidence in his first season playing a stronger game for his loss 7 and 5.  Next Sunday they play Royal Canberra at Belconnen.

Par 3

A Hole- In- One for Ross Stacey on his return to golf in the Par 3 competition was the highlight of a very hot day on Saturday. Ross sank the shot from the 140m tee on the competitions third hole. His eagle was not enough, however, to steal the trophy for the day with Rheannah Webb carding a nett 19 to topple the largest field in the competition’s short history. Ned Slater was the junior winner for the day with a nett 21…handicaps will be adjusted there guys.

Sunday Competition

Ian Peterson led the way in the Par event with +7 for a final score. Don Grimston returned a +5 and John Smith and Chris Elliott both made +4 in a rundown that went to +2 on countback. Eddie Hawkins managed the Nearest the Pin for the 5th hole (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10) and Chris Elliot won the RSM 7th while the Workers Club 8th was not won. R Aubrey was the latest lucky number winner. Thanks to the Webb family for their trophy for the day.

Notices: Sunday Feb 19 is a stableford event. A reminder that the following week (26th) we host the pennants so all comp players must tee off by 7.30am that day. Many thanks to Kerry, Shane and Tracey for braving the burning sun on the mowers to the benefit of us all last week and creating a great looking course. April 2nd is the Tully Social Day 2 Person Ambrose event with over $1500 worth of prizes so organise your partners for the mens, mixed and social divisions.

Goulburn Soldiers 12 hole Competition

Ron Nunn stole the show last week with 27 points to take home the voucher with Kevin Breen 24 taking second place in a rundown to 19. 12 Holes for only $7 this competition is great to start your golfing game.

Pennants

The men’s B Grade handicap team have posted a win 4.5 to 1.5 after Marty Hunter (4 & 2), Ray Turner (4 & 2), Josh Cooper (5 &4) and Tracker Tahana (4 & 3) all got their games back and Tim James squared up his round. Stuart Tahana was the only unlucky one going down 2 &1. Next weeks match is at Fairbairn against Federal.

The juniors scored their first points with the Tully – Gold Creek team squaring with the Fairbairn team. Rheannah Webb sored one of the teams wins 3 & 1, while other locals Lachlan Bill  1 down and Ned Slater 6 & 5 both suffered losses.  Playing their home course at Gold Creek next Sunday against Belconnen will hopefully see them bounce back with a win.

Sunday Competition

40 points secured the win in the stableford event for Gary Spence on Sunday just pipping Chris Webb on 38. Chris managed to win the Mystery Holes for February on the Antony Autos 2nd, Workers Club 8th and the ARW 15th holes with 9 points. Col Eggins managed 37 in the rundown and the nearest the pin for the 5th hole (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10), Gary Spence picked up the RSM 7th and Jim Last managed the Workers Club 8th.

Goulburn Soldiers Weekly Competition

Russell Schmitt managed a good round of 3 birdies to finish with 27 points and take out the Goulburn Soldiers Club $25 voucher last week ahead of Eddie Hawkins on 25 and Beryl Gray on 24.

Juniors

Tully’s junior golfers returned on Saturday for a coaching session that saw Jack Beard and Cathal Carragher win the chipping and putting competitions. With a big roll up for the first week back we hope to see may of the faces back for the Par 3 event this Saturday. Tee off from 7am to beat the heat on the day.

Pennants

The Mens B Grade handicap pennants team suffered their second loss in a row 3.5 to 2.5 this time to Yowani. Trent Cooper squared his match while Marty Hunter and Tracker Tahana both won theirs 7 and 5 and 4 and 3 respectively. Tim James and Phil Elliott both went down 2 and 1. Chris Elliott lost 4 and 3. Next week they play Gungahlin Lakes at Federal.

The Gold Creek-Tully Park junior pennants team lost their first match of the season 3.5 to 2.5 carrying over their form from last year with it going down to the final pairing on the last hole to determine the result. From Tully, Lachlan Bill squared his match and Rheannah Webb won hers in grand style 7 and 6.  The juniors play Fairbairn at Royal next week.

Notices: Sunday Feb 12 Par Event.  Saturday Feb 11 is the monthly Par 3 at Tully with tee off from 7am to beat the heat . Good luck to our pennants players next Sunday.

Sunday Competition

Ron Nunn is the stroke event and C grade medallist for January with a nett round of 64. A welcome round for Ron as he put it all together well for the game. John Smith made 65 to be the A grade winner and Ken Wray scored 67 for the B grade. The ball rundown included Don Grimston and Brian Mills both of whom carded 66. Nearest the pins for the day went to Russ Schmitt (5th – Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10), Russell Lieschke (RSM 7th) and Ron Wenban (Workers Club 8th).

Notices: Sunday Feb 5 stableford. Junior coaching returns on Saturday at 8.30 with coaching to get the rust out after the Xmas break. Good luck to the pennants players next Sunday as the juniors travel to Gungahlin Lakes to meet Yowani and the Mens team play Yowani at Queanbeyan.  Thanks to our volunteers for their help around the club and course and to Joy for all of your time.

Goulburn Soldiers Club event

With scores of 27 and 28 for the midweek event carded by Russell Lieschke and Russ Schmitt respectively you would have thought the prize was gone, but then along came Bryson Plumb with a 31 point round for the 12 holes to blow the competition out of the water. Also making the rundown were John Peterson (26), Eddie Hawkins (25) and Di Schmitt (24 on c/b). This proves that the competition is always wide open for a player to just have a great round.

Pennants -Mens B grade Handicap

Defending their title the Tully team battled hard in the heat at the tough Gungahlin Lakes course but came up short at the end losing 3.5 to 2.5 with Ray Turner and Tracker Tahana making the wins and Phil Elliott squaring his match. Trent Cooper came close at 2 and 1Chris Elliott and Josh Cooper both making it to the final few holes in their losses.

Sunday Competition

The 4 ball multiplier held on Sunday yielded some good high scores with Tony Clewett and Darrell Spence finishing with a superb 83 points for their efforts. Tony was also lucky enough to have been a dual partner for Kerry Bensley and managed 82 for that team up. Don Grimston and Ken Wray  plodded along for a 78 while Eddie Sivell and Brian Mills made 74 to complete the rundown. Nearest the pins went to Don Grimston (5th hole – Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10), Trent Cooper (7th RSM) and Gary Spence (8th – Workers Club). Tracker Tahana was the individual winner for the day on 43 points.  Trophies were by Russell Schmitt and Tully Park Golf Club.

Eddie Hawkins has been making the most of his recent good form with 28 points in last weeks 12 hole stableford event. Hot on his heels were Ron Nunn and Russell Schmitt, who both scored 27, John Blair and Don Grimston made 24 and Joy Leary finished the rundown on 23 after a 5 card countback.

Notices: Good luck to the mens B grade h’cap pennants team who begin their title defence next Sunday at Gungahlin Lakes. Our juniors kick off their title defence Feb 5 also at Gungahlin and will be looking to get off to a good start with Rheannah Webb’s latest form of winning the Ladies division of the Gold Creek stableford on Jan 11 and coming 2nd in the junior girls at Federal last week. A reminder that trophy voucher donations for the Sunday and Par 3 events will be greatly welcomed just see Joy or Russ at the clubhouse to help our club.

Sunday Competition – 2 Person Ambrose

Shane Wilson and Daniel Cooper made a formidable team to card a nett 58 at the Tully Park Golf Club on Sunday to steal a win from Josh Cooper and Ray Turner in a countback. Also in the rundown were Gary Spence and Tracker Tahana on 60.5 and Russell Lieschke and Eddie Hawkins on 61 in a countback. The 5th hole nearest the pin for Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 was won by Russell Lieschke while Col Eggins took the RSM 7th and Trent Cooper the Workers Club 8th.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Capping off a winning week from last Sunday Don Grimston showed up his visiting family with a 27 point round for the 12 hole competition. Jon Gegg and John Peterson were both on his heels with 26 apiece with Tony Grimston, Tony Clewett and Ron Nunn all making 24 for the rundown.

At only 12 holes this comp is a great way to play golf competitions in the summer months and fill in an afternoon after work.

Notices: Sunday Jan 22 Stableford multiplier. A huge thanks to all volunteers who showed up on Saturday for our working bee. A big success with some major work carried out over the course during the rather warm day. We can only hope all visitors and members can appreciate the time and effort you all gave to keeping this looking and playing so good.

Sunday Competition

Don Grimston proved the best of a strong bunch on Sunday as he carded a nett 62 to win the Sunday stroke competition. Hot on his heels in the rundown were Shane Cooper (63), Chris Elliott (64), Trent Cooper (65) and after a four card countback  Ian Peterson (66).  Alan Bill was nearest the pins on his favourite hole, the 5th sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, while Eddie Sivell took the RSM 7th and Tracker Tahana won the Workers Club 8th. The trophy for the day was provided by M Weise.

Goulburn Soldiers Weekly Competition

Eddie Hawkins was back in the winners circle with 26 points last week to take out the $25 voucher from Goulburn Soldiers Club. Brian Larkin was unlucky on countback with his 26 while Russell Schmitt made 25 in a countback that went to 23.

Par 3

Saturday saw the monthly Par 3 event run and was won is style by stalwart of the event Shane Cooper with a par round off the stick. Shane managed 2 birdies to balance his 2 bogies and finished up with a nett 19 for the day. The handicapper will be visiting you Shane before the next round on Feb 11.

Notices: This Saturday is the much anticipate Working Bee with volunteers asked to lend a hand for some of the day between 6am and 2pm. Just turn up at the clubhouse or compound with gloves, old clothes and possibly a shovel and find out where you can help out. Thanks to all of the volunteers who have toiled in the sun recently to get the course looking so good. Anyone who can offer a trophy donation for the Sunday comps for 2017 please see someone at the clubhouse to make arrangement. Tully Park Golf 1/1/17

Sunday Competition

Showing no mercy to the Tully course Gary Spence tore it up on his way to 44 points in Sunday’s stableford event. Nearest challenger was Shane Cooper on 38 closely followed by Phil Elliott and Alan Bill each on 37. Shane also took the mystery holes prize on countback for his 8 points on the Millenium Windows 1st, RSM 7th and Capital Country Plumbing 18th holes. Nearest the pins went to Tom Heath on the 5th (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10), Russell Lieschke 7th (RSM) and Gary Spence 8th (Worker’s Club) .

Notices: R Nunn was the $100 lucky number winner. This Saturday is the monthly social event of the Par 3 event for all players with or without golfing ability. Tee from 8am to 3pm. Sunday Jan 8 is a stroke event. Saturday Jan 14 is a working bee for all available to assist anywhere between 6am and 2pm – if possible bring trailers, shovel and plenty of energy as we try and spruce up the course a bit. Anyone who can donate a trophy for the Sunday or Par 3 events  for 2017 please put your name down on the sheet in the clubhouse.

Goulburn Soldiers Weekly Competition

An eagle on the 3rd hole (par 5) and several birdies saw Lachlan Bill secure a win last week in the 12 hole competition as he shot 2 under off the stick for his 28 points. John Smith made 27 followed by the 26 point group of Brian Mills, Alan Bill, Joy Leary and Di Schmitt. The 12 hole event is great through summer to get in a game and get out of the sun quickly and you can play any day of the week.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Weekly Competition

In a high scoring round with great course conditions Russell Lieschke won with 27 points to take home the $25 voucher after nudging out playing partner Eddie Hawkins on a countback. Don Grimston 26 and John Blair 25 were in the rundown along with Rheannah Webb on 24 on a countback. The Goulburn Soldiers weekly competition runs all through the year with great thanks for the support they give our club.

Tully is open every day through the holidays and we ask that if you would like a cart to use please ring and leave a message to book at least a day early to avoid disappointment.
