Tully Park Golf 18/9/16

Sunday Competition

The two person ambrose event was won  by Andrew Zell and Ron Nunn in tough weather and aerated green conditions with a nett 53.75 on Sunday. Russell Lieschke and Eddie Hawkins  finished next best on 60.25 and Kevin and Ian Peterson claimed third with 62.25. Nearest the pins went to , Russell Liechke , Ken Wray and Phil Elliott on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 , Workers Club, and RSM holes.

Notices: Thanks to all of the volunteers who assisted with the greens on Saturday, your efforts are invaluable to the club and greatly appreciated. Coming up we have the Par 3 on Sat Oct 1 and the Memorial Day and Tully v Workers Club on Oct 9. Men’s Championships commence from Oct 22 and are played 23, 29, and 30. Goulburn Soldiers Club competition

Kevin Peterson took out a three way countback over John Peterson and Russell Schmitt on 24 points last week just ahead of Royce docket, Don Grimston and Brian Larkin in a rundown that went to 20 on a countback. This was the second round of the Kevin Allen Consistency Competition that now sees Royce as the leader on 47 points with Don Grimston close by on 45. The competition has 4 more weeks (including this one) to run with the best 4 rounds counting (1 per week). Thanks to Val Allen for the $100 voucher in honour of Kevin.

Juniors

The Tully Park trio of Trent Cooper, Jon Gegg and Rheannah Webb played the statewide knockout round of the Jack Newton pennants on Sunday in wet and heavy conditions at Belconnen. The Tully Park- Gold Creek team were unable to overcome the strong and consistent Wagga Wagga team going down 3.5 to 0. The players fought well but were unable to maintain some early leads as the rain fell.

Tully Park vs RSL 4 Ball Aggregate

A great day on Sunday for all players as Tully and the RSL golf teams played off in the annual tournament. For a second year in a row RSL proved too strong taking the match 715 to 708. Winners for the RSL team were Roy McNair and Tony Clewett on 77 while the best Tully team score was Russell Lieschke and Eddie Hawkins on 70.  The ball rundown for RSL included the teams of Phil Toole/ Eric Rumsey (74), and Michael Corcoran/ Ashley Corcoran (68)  down to a 3 card countback on 63. Tully scorers were Tim James/ Marty Hunter (69), Lachlan Bill / Russell Schmitt (69), Gary Spence/ Ray Turner (69) and down to 65.

Nearest the pins on the 5th sponsored by Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 was R Dockett, on the RSM hole was Russell Lieschke and Tony Clewett took the Workers Club’s hole. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped prepare the course and food for the day.

Pairs Event: The final round of the pairs event has been played with the team of Lachlan Bill and Russell Schmitt coming out victorious over the three events of Ambrose, Foursomes and 4 ball aggregate. Their total points of 0 was enough to scrape a win by 0.5 over the defending team of Josh and Anthony Cooper (0.5). Gary Spence and Ray Turner also faired well finishing with 1.5 points.

 

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

The first round of the Kevin Allen Consistency competition has been run with Tony Clewett taking out the Goulburn Soldiers club voucher after countback but has left him tied at the top of the ladder on 24 with Royce Dockett and Brian Larkin. Close behind are Ron Nunn (23), and Bryson plumb and Don Grimston (22). This week is the second round of the 6 week event with the best round per person counting each week for 4 of the 6 weeks.

Notices: Next Sunday Sept 18 is a 2 Person Ambrose.  Good luck to Trent, Jon and Rheannah for their knockout round pennants match next Sunday at Belconnen.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

John Peterson won the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher last week after a countback win over Tony Clewett when both scored 24 points.  The rundown went to Thank you to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for their generosity in continuing their sponsorship of this great competition for another year. Over the next 6 the Kevin Allen Consistency competition will be included with additional vouchers of $100 (from Val Allen), $60 and $30 on offer. The best round each week will count with the best 4 over the competition being totalled.

Sunday Competition

The weather again got the best of us with flooding across the course putting our Sunday comp on hold for this week. Next Sunday, Sept 11, is the postponed Tully  v RSL 4 ball aggregate for the Snell trophy, also including the final round of the Pairs event with another $100 voucher each to the winning pairs team. The cost for Sunday is $15/player with a BBQ lunch to be enjoyed afterwards.

Juniors

The Tully Park/ Gold Creek junior pennants team finally have their next round of the State knockout to play on Sunday Sept 18 at Belconnen. Good luck to Trent Cooper, Jon Gegg and Rheannah Webb for their matches.

The Tully juniors return to Saturday mornings from this week 8.30 to 10.30am with coaching this week.

Sunday Competition Stroke Monthly Medal

Anthony Cooper showed his consistency only letting one hole slip by on his way to a 5 under nett round of 65 to take out the August stoke event and C grade medal. Josh Cooper supported well with a nett 66 to take the B grade and Ken Wray managed 71 for the A grade as well as the nearest the pin for the Workers Club hole. Other nearest the pins were won by Kerry Bensley on the 5th hole  sponsored by Goulburn produce and Mitre 10  while Ian Peterson took the RSM hole . Included in the ball rundown were Eddie Hawkins 67 and Shane Cooper 71.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 Hole Competition

Berryl Gray scored 23 to win the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole stableford with Joy Leary 22 also in the mix in a rain affected round. The Kevin Allen Consistency Competition starts this Friday from 12 pm and runs for the next 6 weeks.   Prize vouchers of $100, $60 and $30 are up for grabs.

Juniors

Ned Slater was just able to keep Jack Chamberlain at bay as he took the win in the junior stableford event on Saturday. Ned scored 12 points for the 6 holes with Jack making 8. Juniors have one more Saturday afternoon before returning to the mornings of 8.30am. A program is available on the website or office window. The next round of the Junior Pennants for Tully is currently being organised with hopes of a match in September.

Notices: There will be no Par 3 event on this Saturday due to Coring of the greens. Sunday September 4 is stableford and the following Sunday (11th ) is the RSL v Tully event along with the final round of the Pairs Event.

Sunday Competition

4 Person Ambrose: In perfect conditions the team of Adam Boxsell, Tracker Tahana, Tim James and Marty Hunter took the honours with a nett 53.5 by two shots over the next best team with Russell Lieschke, Eddie Hawkins, Chris Elliott and Phil Elliott on 55.5. Also collecting a ball were Don Grimston, Ken Wray, Tony Clewett and Royce Dockett. 56.25. Nearest the pins for the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 5th hole and Workers Club 8th went to Phil Elliott and Tim James respectively with the RSM 7th not being won. With several social teams taking part in the competition the junior/dad team prevailed with Rheannah Webb and dad Chris, and Ned Slater and dad Jason coming in with nett 64.125 to take the prizes.

Notices: The par 3 for Sept 3 will be re-scheduled for Sept 17 due to the coring of the greens. (anyone available to assist on Sept 3 please see Shane Cooper or Russell Schmitt. Sept 11 is the Tully v RSL 4 ball stableford  event and round 3 of the pairs event. The Kevin Allen consistency competition over 12 holes ( run in conjunction with the Goulburn Soldiers Club event) commences Sept 2 at 12pm. Best 4 stableford scores (1 per week) over the 6 weeks  wins the $100 voucher, 2nd $60 and third $30.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

There’s life in the old man yet. On the heels of last Sunday being made a life member at the club for his years of membership and dedication Kevin Peterson scored 27 points to win the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher after a countback with Eddie Hawkins. The rundown for the week went to 20 points with a three card countback win to Ruth Beveridge.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition 
Eddie Hawkins backed up last weeks win with another good round of 28 points to leave his opponents in his wake. John Peterson was next best on 23 followed by Chris Elliott on 21 in a rundown that went to 20 points.

Sunday Competition
After coming second with his son Josh at Berrydale last weekend in the district finals of the 4 ball par tournament Anthony Cooper showed his talents scoring 41 points to win Sunday’s competition. Trent cooper 40, Phil Elliott 39 and Tom Heath 38 also performed well on the day. Trent Cooper made nearest the pins on the Goulburn Produce Mitre 10 and Workers Club hole but missed the jackpot when Josh Cooper took the RSM 7th.
Ron Nunn won the mystery holes for the Merino Fuels 3rd, Workers Club 8th and Goulburn Soldiers Club 17th holes on a countback for his 8 points.

Junior Golf

The junior golfers played a mini Par 3 on Saturday and it was won by Nitika Chandola with nett 18 followed by newcomer Nathan Chandola 21, Adrian Giongo 24 and Jack Chaimberlain 24. This week is coaching at 3pm. The new program for the remainder of the year is now on the website and at the clubhouse.

Kevin Allen Consistency Competition commences from 12pm September 2. You are included by playing in the Goulburn Soldiers Club weekly Competition and can pay extra to be included on Sundays for the stableford events. Best 4 rounds of the 6 weeks of the event will count towards the $100 voucher for the winner $60 voucher for 2nd and $30 for third.

We now have enough financial members interested in next years pennants so we will have a team for the B grade handicap. Any other interested players should get their names down asap.

Foursomes Championships

The team of Ray Turner and Gary Spence are the 2016 Foursomes Champions after returning a total of 167 for the 2 rounds of the inland course over the weekend. Consistency paid off for the pair who finished in the ball rundown for both days.

Saturday saw Josh and Anthony Cooper take the lead in the nett with 64.5 ahead of Russell Lieschke and Eddie Hawkins 68.5 and Ray and Gary on 72.5. The scores on Sunday had Eddie and Russell sneak home with a nett win with 70.5 while Gary and Ray finished only 1 behind on 71.5, enough for them to take the Gross title for the year.

Nearest the pins went to Russell Lieschke on the Goulburn produce and Mitre 10 sponsored 5th while Trent Cooper took the RSM  hole for the round.  D Collins was lucky enough to win the lucky draw for the 100 club.

Notices: Memberships are now overdue. Financial players for the 2017 pennants are required so the team can be entered for the competition next year. The AGM is on next Sunday August 14 at 12.30 after the Stableford event for the Sunday competition. Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for all of your efforts on the course and around the clubhouse and gardens.

The Kevin Allen Consistency Competition with commence on Friday September 2 from 12pm. Played in conjunction with the midweek for 6 weeks, the best 4 results count with totals in the running for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. Thank you to Val Allen for her support of this great competition. Sunday competition players can be included in this event when the stableford event is on for only $7 extra.

With the wet weather finally giving players a break the 12 hole competition resulted in a win to Eddie Hawkins after a countback on 26 points over Tony Clewett. Included in the rundown were Phil Elliott 23, Don Grimston 22 and Mick Hyland 21.  Thanks you to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for your ongoing support of this event.

Sunday Competition

The July monthly medal saw Tom Heath take charge on his way to a nett 66 to win the A Grade medal and the Stroke event. Russell Lieschke on 69 was next best in a rundown that went to 71. B grade winner, Kerry Bensley, finished with a nett 71 and took out the Goulburn Produce nearest the pin. Kevin Peterson showed the rest of the c graders how it was done taking out their badge with 72.  Ken Wray won the Workers Club nearest the pin while the RSM hole was unclaimed for the day.

Notices

The August Par 3 scheduled for this Sat has been cancelled due to the Men’s Foursomes Championships over this Saturday and Sunday. Some teams will be teeing off around 7.30 to 8am on Saturday so if your team needs a partner team come out for then or ring the club to make arrangements.

Memberships are now due. Unpaid fees will leave you unfinancial and result in social fees being required and golflink membership cancelled. So please get your payments in. Good luck tot he teams of A and J Cooper and M Weise and A Boxsell in the district 4 ball Par event this Sunday.

The AGM is on August 14 at approx. 12.30 and all members are invited to come out and see the state of affairs of our club.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

John Blair surprised himself with a competition win last week with 22 points for the 12 hole event just edging out Mick Hyland on 21. Berryl Gray was next in a rundown that went to 19. The inland course is still proving a challenge for the Tully regulars with few scores dominating the conditions in recent weeks.

Juniors

Newcomer Jack Chamberlain won the junior stableford event on Saturday just pipping Ned Slater to the prize. Juniors will have coaching this Sat at 3pm and will play a modified Par 3 on Aug 13 at 3pm so be there by 2.45 .

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Another wet week for the 12 hole players as Russell Schmitt’s 26 points was again the winning score. The ladies dominated the field with good results by Berryl Gray , Rheannah Webb and Joy Leary in a rundown that went to 19 on countback. The inland course is still a good golfing challenge so come and have a go at winning the $25 voucher from the Soldiers Club.

 

Sunday Competition

A countback was needed to separate the leaders as Phil Elliott’s 21 on the back nine proved too good. Phil’s score of 40 was equalled by Alan Bill who, mustering up back to back birdies, was only able to head up the rundown which included Adam Boxsell on the way down to 37.

Tom Heath picked up a voucher from the jackpot pool for his two nearest the pins on the sponsored Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 and Workers Club holes. Ian Peterson managed the third nearest the pin on the RSM Bird Cameron hole.

Notice: next Sunday (July 31) is the Stroke monthly medal. Thank you to all of the members who have pledged support for the $30 vouchers for the Sunday competition prizes, this assists us keeping the competition fees low. Anyone wishing to include themselves for this can put their name down at the clubhouse. August 6 and 7 is only a couple of weeks away for the Foursomes Championships. The AGM is on August 14 at approx. 12.30, all members are invited to attend. Committee nominations will be taken until August 7.

Pennants names are still needed to nominate a team for next years competition. Nominations have to be in and nominees must be financial to justify us entering a team.

Sunday Competition

The Sunday competition was met with the best of Winter weather for the Two Person Ambrose that saw the pennants pair of  Jon Gegg and Trent Cooper as winners with 62.5 nett. Josh Cooper and Shane Cooper were the next best on 64.5 closely followed by their pairing team of Tom Heath and Brian Mills on 64.75. Chris and Phil Elliott finished off the rundown with 65. The nearest the pins for Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 went to Russell Schmitt, the RSM Bird Cameron hole was not won and the Workers Club was won by Ray Turner.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Thank you to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for their continued support of our weekly competition which was won by Russell Schmitt last week with 26 points. The rundown included Eddie Hawkins 24, and Ron Wenban and Adam Boxsell both on 22.

Notices: next Sunday July 24 is a Stableford. Foursomes Championships are on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 of August. Saturday you can tee off any time but organise your groups early and contact the committee if you have problems finding playing partners.

With the AGM scheduled for August 14 (12.30pm)   agenda items must be submitted by July 24. Committee nominations are to be in by August 7. Memberships are also due so please get them or risk losing your golflink handicap.
