Tully Park Golf 25/3/18

Sunday Competition

John Smith’s nett 66 was enough to give him the A Grade medal for March and a win in the stroke event on Sunday. Don Grimston made 69 to win the b Grade medal and Ron Nunn on 71 took the C grade. Also in the rundown were Ian Peterson 69 and Nick Kearns 71. Adam Boxsell was Nearest the Pin, on his return to golf, for the Capital Country Plumbing on the 7th and Mick Harris won the Gordon Hotel drive and pitch on the 11th.  

 

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

 Mark Beresford turned the tables to edge out Don Grimston last week when both finished on 24 points. Bryan Norris, Peter Webster, Martell Maher and Eddie Hawkins received balls in the rundown that went to 23 on countback.

Notices: Sunday April 1 Stableford. The next Par 3 is April 14. April 15 is the 4 Ball Par Qualifier round. April 22 sees the annual Tully v RSL game at Tully. Thanks to Joy for helping look after the Tully Sunday comps while Russell has been away at junior pennants.

Junior

Rheannah Webb won the stableford event for the juniors at Tully on Saturday with 13 points with Anbarasan Mitchell second on 12 points. She then backed up on Sunday for the pennants team losing her match 5 and 4 but was part of the winning team for the final pennants round at Gold Creek on Sunday.  The team won 3.5 to 2.5 and is now relying on other results to gain a spot in the finals. Tully Park will have Drummond Golf Professional James McMaster holding a junior golf coaching clinic (with 5 places remaining) from 9.30am to 11am Thursday April 19 with a sausage sizzle after. Cost $5/junior, inquiries at Tully Park 48222828 and leave a message. Weekly coaching has recommenced on Saturdays from 8.30 to 10am. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

 

Ladies

Georgina Cook won division 1 in the stroke on Monday with 69 nett while Ratna Rankmore took out the Division 2 with 74 nett. Joy leary and Ratna won the Div 1 and Div 2 putting respectively each with 30 putts. Tully ladies play 18 hole events on Monday mornings meeting at 8.30am. Ladies also play on Tuesdays over 12 holes also at 8.30am.

Sunday Competition

Nick Kearns and Ray Turner teamed up to win the Stableford Multiplier on Sunday with 81 points leaving 10 points to second placed Shane and Trent Cooper on 71 and Josh and Anthony Cooper back in third on 63. Nick also won the individual stableford for the day with 43 and obviously carried a heavy load for the day. Tom Heath won the nearest the pin on the Workers Club 8th hole while ray Turner chimed in with the drive and Pitch on the Lee and Thomas 13th hole.

 

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Don Grimston scraped home with a win on 28 points after a countback edging out Mark Beresford in his first competition round for a while. Greg Maskill also performed well for his 27 and on 25 were Ron Nun and Chris Ryan. The final ball for the week went to Nick Kearns on 24. Thanks to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for your support.

Junior

The Tully Park /Gold Creek team went down 5 to 1 in the windy conditions on Sunday at Federal Golf Club. Rheannah Webb fought hard but finished up down 3 and 2. Division 1 in the stableford on Monday was won by Joy Leary with 29 points and Ratna Rankmore won division 2 with 32 points. Heather Buchanan won the nearest the pin for the round. Tully ladies play 18 hole events on Monday mornings meeting at 8.30am. Ladies also play on Tuesdays over 12 holes also at 8.30am.

Sunday Competition

Chris Webb has been taking notes on the junior pennants players while in Canberra recently and put them to good use as he won the Feb Monthly Medal for the C Grade and took out the Stroke event on Sunday with nett 65. Russell Lieschke won the A Grade with 66 and Phil Elliott won the B grade with 67 and the drive and Pitch on Kev’s Quality Meats 12th hole. Josh Cooper 67 and Tom heath 67 made up the rundown for the day. Russell Schmitt won the nearest the pin on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th hole.

 

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Chris Ryan was last weeks winner with 28 points ahead of Ron Nunn on 26, Don Grimston 24 and Ratna Rankmore and Greg Maskill both on 22. Tony Clewett grabbed the last ball in the rundown after a 7 card countback on 20.

Par 3

Joy Leary proved experience is the winner as she showed the young guns how to play the short game on her way to a nett 20. Newcomer to golf Jake Waters displayed his developing skills as he made a nett 24 to win the junior $25 voucher. The next Par 3 is April 14.

Ladies

The A grade division of the stroke event last week was won by Joy Leary with 97 while Georgina Cook took out the nett with 77. The B grade saw June Spillane lead the way on 104 and Beryl Howe winning the nett on 83. Ratna Rankmore won the C grade gross on countback with 109 and Beryl Gray scored 77 for the nett prize.

Sunday Competition

Josh Cooper had a winning return to the course with 43 points in the stableford event. Phil Elliott also impressed with 39 and won the Mystery Holes with 8 points on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, Gordon Hotel and Goulburn Soldiers Club 5th, 11th and 14th holes. Jeremy Harrison managed 37 as well as the Drive and Pitch on the Carpet Court 16th, Nick Kearns and Tony Clewett finished off the rundown with 34 on countback.  Nearest the Pin on the Workers Club 8th went to Eddie Hawkins.

 

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Don Grimston returned to the winners circle with 25 points last week to claim the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher. Bryan Norris, Ratna Rankmore, Nick Kearns and Graham Tasker all finishing on 24 points. Brian Larkin and Ron Nunn also made it into the rundown. Thanks to the Soldiers Club for their continued support of this popular competition played by members of all ages and ability.

Notices: Sunday March 11 Stroke and the Feb monthly Medal round.  Saturday March 10 is the monthly Par 3 with tee off from 8am to 3pm. Juniors

The Tully Park Gold Creek pennants team faced the lead team in the comp on Sunday and went down in a tough battle 4.5 to 1.5. Rheannah Webb lost 2 down and 1 to go and Ned Slater finished down 5 and 4 . Next week is a rest before the play Yowani at Federal on March 18.  

Ladies

The rain continued into Monday greening the course but washing out the ladies games.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

John Blair fired up the course with 31 points for the 12 hole competition and put to rest any thoughts of his regular playing partner being better than him. In another high scoring week newcomer Nick Kearns returned 28 as did recent winner Peter Webster, both can expect the handicapping program to love them this week. The rundown went to 26 points with Chris Ryan, John Peterson, Joy Leary and Ratna Rankmore all playing to better than their handicaps to win a ball. 

Sunday Competition

 The much needed rain disrupted Sunday’s golf as the comp had to be called off.

  Juniors

The Tully Park/ Gold Creek team loaned a couple of players to the opposition on Sunday in the spirit of sportsmanship as Belconnen had players out competing at a Jack Newton event at Wagga Wagga. As it turned out the weather resulted in the games being cancelled. Good luck to the team in holding on to their tied second position next week at Yowani against current leaders, Gungahlin Lakes, in  what will certainly be a tough match.

Ned Slater won the voucher for his 14 points for the junior stableford event on Saturday. He was closely followed on 13 by Nitika Chandola.

Ladies

Joy Leary scored 33 points to win last Monday’s stableford event for division 1 as well as taking the nearest the pin. Ruth Beveridge took the division 2 honours with 38.

Tully Park Golf 18/2/18

Sunday Competition

 Chris Ryan took the honours on Sunday with 46 points in the stableford event in a high scoring round. Jeremy Harrison came in with 42, Tom Heath and Russell Lieschke both had 40 in a rundown that went to a 5 card countback on 37. Graham Tasker won the nearest the pin on the Capital Country 7th and took the mystery holes on the same hole along with the BC Training 6th and the Professionals Real Estate 15th where he finished with 9 points. Ray Turner won drive and pitch on Kev’s Quality Meats 12th hole.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Ned Slater has continued his good form from the junior pennants to win his first competition at Tully. Ned scored 27 points to win on countback over Chris Ryan and John Blair. On 25 points were both Tony Clewett and Brian Larkin and making up the rundown were Peter Wheeldon and was Margaret Gibson on 24 points.      

Junior Pennants

Rheannah Webb was the only Tully player in the junior pennants team for Gold Creek/ Tully this week as Ned and Nathan took their turn for a rest week.  Rheannah picked up the only points for the team finishing square on the 18th hole. The team lost 5.5 to 0.5. Next Sunday they play Belconnen at Queanbeyan.

Ladies

Heather Buchanan won the A grade stroke event last week with nett 68 and Georgina Cook won the B Grade with 72 nett. Joy Leary won the putting with 29 and the rundown went to 76 nett.

Sunday Competition

Ian Peterson’s nett 65 was enough to edge out Gary Spence, Chris Ryan, and Tom Heath all on 66 in the stroke event on Sunday. Chris Elliott made 67. Nearest the pins went to Phil Elliott on the Worker’s Club 8th and Gary Spence on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Peter Webster got back in the swing of things with his first competition round scoring 37 points for the 12 holes and losing 12 shots off his handicap. Also playing excellent golf for the round were Darrell Spence 28 and Chris Ryan and Joy Leary, both on 27. Making the rundown were Gordon Rankmore, in his return to competitions and  Martel Maher both making 26 and then to 23 points for Brian Larkin, Greg Maskill and Ratna Rankmore after a countback.     

Junior Pennants

Ned Slater followed from his first win with another great effort for round 2. He finished up 4 and 3 to help the Tully Park/ Gold Creek team to a 4 to 2 win on Sunday. Rheannah Webb went down 3 and 2 while Nathan Chandola made it to the 15th hole in his second outing for the team before going down 4 and 3. Next Sunday they play Royal Canberra at Royal.

Par 3

The February7 Par 3 event saw Jason Slater following in his son’s footsteps and scoring a win with nett 23 in the adult grade. Nitika Chandola has been paying to brother Nathan’s pennants and lifted to win the Junior division with a nett 19. The next Par 3 is on March 10.

Ladies

The stableford event on Monday saw Beryl Howe take a win with 37 points after a countback for the A grade while Ratna Rankmore took out division 2 with 32 points.  Nearest the pin on the Goulburn produce and Mitre 10 hole was Ratna Rankmore and the rundown went to 30 points.

Sunday Competition

Phil Elliott proved too good to score +6 in the Par event on Sunday and take out the win. Peter Wheeldon came into form with +4 for the round while Jeremy Harrison and Anthony Cooper each made +2 and Gary Spence +1 for the rundown. Nearest the Pin on the 5th (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10) was not won and the drive and pitch on the Carpet court 16th winner was Russell Lieschke. 

 

Notices: Sunday Feb 11 Stroke.  Thanks to all of the volunteers for their time and effort over these hot summer months. Junior golf coaching has recommenced on Saturdays from 8.30 to 10am. Kerry Bensley backed up last weeks good round away to bring it home for 29 points in the 12 hole comp and sneak the win from Greg Maskill also on 29. Russsell Schmitt came in on 27, Chris Ryan, Beryl Gray and Brian larkin all had 26 and Bryson Plumb had 25.   

Junior Pennants

Rheannah Webb picked up from last year’s season with another win (4 up and 2 to play) to her list in the match play event and Ned Slater broke through with his first win (1 up) to help the Tully Park/ Gold Creek team to a 3.5 to 2.5 win in the first round. Nathan Chandola was unlucky in his first game and went down 9 and 7 to play. Next they play Fairbairn at Belconnen.

Sunday Competition

Tom Heath scraped home on a countback over Darrell Spence when both finished the Stroke event on nett 64 with Tom taking the A Grade Medal for January while Darrell took the C Grade. Gary Spence and John Smith both carded nett 65 and Phil Elliott took out the B grade medal with 66.    Nearest the Pin on the Workers Club 8th was Rheannah Webb and the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas 13th was Ken Wray.

All players (golfers and novices) are welcome to play with both an adult and junior section.   

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Greg Maskill backed up his 32 point round last week with a 29 point round for this week to again take the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher.  Brian Larkin came in with 27 followed closely by Eddie Hawkins and Kerry Bensley both on 26 and Ron Nunn and Bryan Norris on 25. Congratulations to Kerry Bensley on his 49 point round with the Highland Vetran Golfers  last week at the Gibralta course.

Ladies 

Tully Park Ladies return on Monday morning Feb 5. If you are interested in making a start at golf or want to join our ladies for a friendly round come out around 8.30 for the 9am tee off or call 48222828 and leave a message for Joy to register your interest.

Sunday Competition

Russell Lieschke braved the heat to score another win on Sunday in the stableford event with 40 points. Kerry Bensley scored 39 and also took out the Mystery Holes for the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, Gordon Hotel and Argyle Cleaning  holes (5th, 11th and 17th holes) with 10 points. Making up the rundown were Alan Bill and Tom Heath (both 38), and Don Grimston and Chris Ryan (both 37 on countback).   Nearest the Pin on the Goulburn Soldier s Club 14th was Russell Schmitt and the drive and pitch on the Gordon Hotel 11th was Ian Peterson.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Greg Maskill set the bar high last week with an incredible score of 32 points for the 12 holes. His round included one 5 point, one 4 point and 5 three point holes. Next best was John Blair on 28 with Chris Ryan and Ron Nunn both on 26. Making up the rundown were Tony Clewett, Bryan Norris, Bryson Plumb and Kerry Bensley all on 23 on countback.
