Sunday Competition

Round 1 of the championships was won by Ian Peterson with nett 63, Kerry Bensley was second on 68. The ball rundown included Simon Jiang 69, Brett Buckley 69, Luke Dixon 70, Alan McDonald 70, Greg granger 70, Mitch Cook 71, Sam Cosgrove 71, Max Sakiasi 72 and Ray Turner 73 on countback.

Round 2 had John Smith take the honours with nett 63 and Mitch Cook in second on 67 on countback. The rundown included Max Sakiasi 67, Luke Dixon 67, Kerry Bensley 68, Mac Fife 71, Brett Buckley 71, Simon Jiang 73 Gary Spence 73, Sam Cosgrove 74 and Sam McDonald 74.

The jackpot hole carries over, Nearest the pins went to Brett Buckley (BC training 6th) Sam McDonald Alan Bill Electrical 7th, Ray Turner (Workers Club 8th ) Chris Ryan  Goulburn Soldiers Club 9th  and the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas 13th, Tony McLaughlin drive and pitch Carpet Court 16th.

Overall standing: A Grade Brett Buckley 150 (gross) John Smith 137 (nett), B Grade Max Sakiasi 171 (gross), Kerry Bensley 136 (nett), C Grade Alan McDonald 192 (gross) Alan McDonald 141 (nett).

The Men’s Championships Rounds 3 and 4 are on Nov 1 and 2. The course will be closed for social play until at least 10.30am each of these days (possible later if there is a big field)

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Competition

Ian Baxter managed to hold on for another round to take the Kevin Allen Consistency Competition for 2025 after finishing with 93 points for his best 4 rounds over the 6 weeks. Tony McLaughlin managed to take 2nd spot on 92 and Lindsay Sergeant and Alan McDonald finished tied for 3rd on 90. Big thanks to Val Allen for her continued support of the club and this event.

The 12 hole comp for the Goulburn Soldiers Club was won by Hayden Ward with 23 points. Garry Handley, Tony McLaughlin, Ian Baxter, Maxine Mclaughlin and John Smith each had 22 and Lindsay Sergeant took the final ball in the rundown after a countback on 20.

Ladies

Barbara Miller took to the winner’s podium after a great round of 57 nett in the stroke event last week taking the division 2 win. Division 1 was won by Maxine McLaughlin with an also impressive round of 65 nett and the putting prize with 32 putts. Division 2 putting winner was Ruth Beveridge on countback with 34 . The rundown included Gail Kennerley 69, Georgina Cook 69 and Heather Buchanan 72.

Sunday Competition

Greg Granger and Max Sakiasi teamed up for a nett 60.25 win for the Ambrose event on Sunday, Mitch Cook and Kade Watling came in second on 61.25. The rundown included the teams of Rill Reid/ Mac Fife 62.25, Dylan Maddock/ Josh Wattling 63.5, Tony Clewett/ Ian Peterson 63.75, Tom James/ Sam McDonald 64 and Chris Lewis/ Luke Dixon 64.75. The field had 34 starters.

The Mitre 10 jackpot was won by Andrew Balabka, nearest the pins were won by Mac Fife (BC Training 6th), Mitch Cook (Alan Bill Electrical 7th), Josh Wattling (Worker’s Club 8th), Kade Wattling (Goulburn Soldiers Club 9th) and Gary Spence (Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th ). Drive and Pitch winners were Mac Fife/ Bill Reid (Lee and Thomas 13th )and Josh Wattling/ Dylan Maddock (Carpet Court 16th )

The Men’s Championships start Saturday Oct 25 and Sunday 26 with rounds 1 and 2. Organise your teams. Rounds 3 and 4 are on Nov 1 and 2. The course will be closed for social play until at least 10.30am each of these days (possible later if there is a big field)

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Competition

Garry Handley will be under the knife from the handicapper after scoring 31 points for the 12 holes last week. Tony McLaughlin also pulled one out of the bag for his 25 followed by Ian Baxter 24, Maxine Mclaughlin 23 and Alan McDonald 23 for the rundown.

Leading into the final round of the Kevin Allen Consistency competition Ian Baxter has leapt to the lead on 91 just edging t Alan McDonald into second on 90 and Tony Clewett and Tony McLaughlin as tied for 3rd.

Ladies

The Ladies stroke and putting competition saw Georgina Cook take division 1 with nett 65 and the putting with 27. Division 2 was won by Barbara Miller on nett 66 and the putting winner was Frances Miners with 33. The rundown went to Gail Kennerley 73, Ratna Rankmore 73, and Frances Miners 74.

Joe Fehir Memorial Mixed Foursomes

This inaugural event honouring the recently departed Tully Captain was won by the team of Frances Miners and Tony McLaughlin on 68.5. Georgina Cook and Kerry Bensley took second place with nett 70 on a windy day but enjoyed by all.

Sunday Competition

The Canadian Foursomes was won by the team of Andrew Balabka and Brynn Matthews on nett 67. Tom James and Sam McDonald were next best on 69.125 followed by Ken Wray and Don Grimston 69.75. The rundown also included Tom Heath and John Smith 70.125, and Gary Spence and Eddie Hawkins 73.125.

The mitre10 jackpot hole went to Andrew Balabka, with the nearest the pins going to Alan McDonald (BC Training )Glenn Baxter (Alan Bill Electrical), Sam McDonald (Workers Club), and Eddie Sivell and Brynn Matthews each taking a one on the Goulburn Soldiers Club holes. Tom James and Sam McDonald took the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas hole.

Sunday October 19 is a 2 Person Ambrose with the Men’s Championships starting Saturday Oct 25 and Sunday 26. Rounds 3 and 4 are on Nov 1 and 2.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Competition

A countback win went to Ken Wray on 27 points over Lindsay Sergeant last week for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole competition. Ian Baxter came in with 24 along with Alan McDonald and Craig Brown. On 23 were Glenn Baxter and Tony Clewett and Brett Buckley had 22.

After 4 rounds of the Kevin Allen Consistency competition Tony Clewett still holds the lead on 86, Alan McDonald hangs on to second with 84 and tied for third are Lindsay Sergeant and Ian Baxter both on 82. The final 2 rounds are now underway.

Ladies

Heather Buchanan led the way with 34 points in the stableford event and won the nearest the pin last week for the Tully Ladies. Ruth Beveridge won division 2 on 30. The ball rundown included Georgina cook 31, Maxine Mclaughlin 26 and Barbara Miller 26.

Sunday Competition

An eagle on the Aaron’s Trees 12th hole for Tom James helped him to victory with 41 points in the stableford event on Sunday. Sam Cosgrove came in with 37 in the strong field that saw Ian Peterson, Max Sakiasi and Glenn Baxter each on 36, Eddie Sivell 35 and Doug Stevens 33 on countback make up the rundown.

Mitch Cook won the mystery holes on a 6 card countback with 6 points on the Worker’s Club 8th, D.One Accounting 11th and Aaron’s Trees 12th  holes. Nearest the pins went to Dean Horne (BC Training 6th), Max Sakiasi (Alan Bill Electrical 7th), Eddie Sivell (Worker’s Club 8th) Simon Jiang (Goulburn Soldiers Club 9th), and Mitch Cook (Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th). Max Sakiasi took the jackpot for the Mitre 10 hole. Drive and Pitch was won by Andrew Balabka (Lee and Thomas 13th) and Tony McLaughlin (Carpet Court 16th)

Saturday Oct 11 Mixed Foursome Championship 8.30 for 9am start.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Competition

Alan McDonald showed flashes of brilliance in his round of 25 points to take the Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher last week. Craig Brown followed closely on 24 with Tony Clewett 23, Lindsay Sergeant 22 and Tony Grimston, Hayden Ward and Ken Wray all on 21.

That leaves the round 3 standings of the Kevin Allen Consistency competition with Tony Clewett in the lead on 63, Alan McDonald on 60 and Wayne Blay and Greg Maskill fighting it out for 3rd place.

Ladies

The Tully Ladies played a 2 person ambrose last Monday and the winning team was Heather Buchanan and Georgina Cook on 61.75. Nearest the pins for the day went to Ratna Rankmore, Gail Kennerley and Maxine McLaughlin. The ball rundown included Ruth Beveridge and Barbara Miller.
