Tully Park Golf 30/01/2022

Sunday Competition

A countback was required to separate Bill Reid (B Grade and stroke winner) and Garry Handley (C Grade winner) for the overall stoke competition on Sunday after both finished on nett 66. Chris Ryan took the A grade honours with nett 73 as well as the Jackpot hole for the Mitre 10 hole. Newcomer Daniel Dugdale won the nearest the pin for the Goulburn Soldiers Club hole. The rundown for the day included: Mark Berrisford 70, Darrell Spence 71, Roly Wong 73, and on 74 Ryan Saville, Ken Wray, Russell Lieschke, Eddie Hawkins and Jeremy Harrison.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

James Wilson bore the brunt of the handicappers pen losing 6 shots after returning 32 points for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole comp. Mitch Cook was unlucky with his 28 points to be left in the wake for the next best score. Max Sakiasi had 25 followed by Jesse Cao on 24. Jon Gegg, Mick Regterschot, Malcolm Young and Russ Sheely all had 23. Finishing off the rundown on 22 were Maxine McLaughlin, John Smith Brett Buckley and Chris Ryan. 41 players took part last week.

Southern Highlands Veterans

13 teams of Highlands Veterans golfers took part in an ambrose event at Tully Park Golf Club Thursday Jan 27.

The winning team with 57 and 1/8 were Sarah Fahey, Mary Hall, Ian Flanagan and Bryan Butriss. Local players John Smith, Chris Ryan and Gary Handley teamed up with Elisabeth Shepherd for second on 59 and 3/4. Third placed were Jeffrey Chopping, Barbera Prosser, Anne Hyde and Michael Morrison on 60 and 1/8.

 

Slater Drafting par 3

The February Slater Drafting par 3 is on Sat Feb 12. Tee off 7am to 11am. All welcome cost $7 / player.

Notices:  Sunday Feb 6 Stableford.  The grass bunker next to the 4th green is now in play.  Tully Ladies return Monday Feb 7 at 8.30 for 9am tee off, Tully juniors return Feb 5th at 8.30am. Thanks to Luke and the Tully volunteers for their efforts in the clubhouse and on the course for the vets day last week. All the hard work was greatly appreciated.  Names are now being taken for the Mixed Foursomes on Saturday March 19 with tee off at 9am. Good luck to Elsey Slater with her first round of pennants next Sunday.

Tully will be closed until 1pm Jan 27 while the Southern Highland Vets play at Tully. 

Sunday Competition

Eddie Sivell surprised even himself with his great round of 39 points on Sunday to win the stableford event. Bill Reid managed an eagle on the D.One Accounting 11th as part of his 38 points to take second prize. Tom James and Kerry Bensley also made 38 followed by Tim Elliott 37 as he took the mystery holes for January in a 6 card countback on 7 points. The mystery holes were Merino Fuels 3rd, BC Training 6th and Chris Ryan Plumbing 18th.  On 36 points were Jesse Cao, winner of the Jackpot hole for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th, James Will and Russell Lieschke. Ryan Saville and Mick Regterschot finished the rundown for the 35 player field each with 35 points after a countback. Tom Heath won the Worker’s Club nearest the pin on the 8th and Chris Ryan won the drive and pitch on the Carpet Court 16th.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

Liam Harmer  has made his first competition memorable with a win in the 12 hole Goulburn Soldiers Club competition. Liam came in with 27 points ahead of a strong field of 30 players. Mark Berrisford, Russ Schmitt and Tony McLaughlin all had 25, followed by Alan McDonald on 23. Greg Robertson, Stephen Apps, Michael Brown and Tony Clewett all had 22 and Max Sakiasi took the final ball in the rundown with his 21 after a countback.

Sunday Competition

Max Sakiasi and Roly Wong teamed up to win the 4 Ball Best Ball stableford event on Sunday with 44 points. Next best were the teams of Tom Heath /Chris Ryan and Alan Bill and Russell Schmitt both on 43. Tony Mclaughlin and Ian Baxter finished with 42 and Mick Gray and Kerry Bensley had a countback win on 41 for the final balls in the rundown. Trent Cooper won the jackpot hole on the Jeremy Ryan Plumbing 7th, John Smith won the nearest the pin on the Mitre 10 hole and Russell Lieschke took the D.One Accounting drive and pitch on the 11th.

Heading a strong field of 58 Darrell just bumped off Don Grimston, Garry Handley and Ben Pearson all on 27. John Smith made 26 and Ron Nunn 25 with Russell Lieschke, Ian Ginn , Darrell Holder and Andrew Balabka all on 24.  The rundown went to 21.

 

Notices:  Sunday Jan 23 Stableford.  Check the board regarding changes to Preferred Lie and GUR for Tully. The course will be closed until 1pm Jan 27 while  the Southern Highland Vets play at Tully. Big thanks to Luke and the volunteers for the great job they’ve done cleaning up after the flooding and getting the grass under control, as well as those helping at the clubhouse and around the course keeping up the beautiful appearance.

Due to recent floods there is no Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole competition this week. All going well it will be up and running again from Friday. The course will remain closed until then.

Please note that Tully has been re-rated recently. Some people will have changes in their handicaps because of this.

Sunday Competition

Ian Peterson leapt ahead of the field with a nett 64 to take the B grade monthly medal and Stroke event on Sunday. Mitch Cook was next best on 67 followed by A grade winner Chris Ryan 68, and on 69 C grade winner Darrell Spence, Trent Cooper and Mac Fife. After a 5 card countback on 71 Garry Handley and Tom Heath came out in front to make the rundown. Nearest the pin on the Jeremy Ryan Plumbing hole was Mick gray, Trent Cooper took the drive and pitch on Aaron’s Trees  hole and Max Sakiasi took the jackpot hole of the Worker’s Club.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole

Andrew Cole scored a win for his 29 points and receives the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher. Mark Berrisford played well for his 27 followed by Russ Schmitt 26 and Wayne James 25. For the 55 starters the rundown included Russell Lieschke, Roly Wong, Alan McDonald, Doug Gordon and Adam Bruckshaw all on 24. And went to 22 in a 6 card countback.

Slater Drafting Par 3

The first Slater Drafting Par 3 for 2022 is on Saturday January 8. Tee off from 7am to 11am. Great fun for all up-and -coming and experienced golfers.

Notices:  Sunday Jan 9 Stableford maximum 9. At Sunday’s meeting it was decided that Preferred lies through the green should be reintroduced from Friday January 7th.  Due to Covid (still) sand bunkers will remain preferred lies for the time being. Grass bunker next to the third green is now in play. Bunker next to the 4th green is still G.U.R.
