Tully Park Golf 27/11/16

Sunday Competition

Ken Wray set the course on fire with a seven under round of 61 nett to take out the Gold Medal Playoff for 2016 and win the November Monthly Medal for the B grade.  Tom Heath and Brian Mills (on countback) both scored 65 to take out the A and C grade respectively and all three will now go into next years playoff list. The ball rundown for the day included Tony Clewett 65, John Smith and Chris Elliott 66 and Phil Elliott 67. Brian Norris picked up a $20 voucher for his 2 nearest the pins on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 and RSM 5th and 7th holes while Tony Clewett picked up the Workers Club 8th.

Notices : Sunday Dec 4 4BBB Captain v President. Raffle tickets for Gala Day are required to be in by Dec 11 so please get them in sooner rather than later to make it easier for the committee. Gala Day is a 3 person Ambrose costing $15 for members with more than 10 comp games for the year and $25 for those with less than 10.  Tee off is a shotgun start at 8am. The final par 3 for the year is on this Saturday (Dec 3) with tee off from 8am to 3pm. Thank you to all the volunteers for your help over this past warm week.

 

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Tony Clewett scored 26 points last week to take out the $25 Goulburn Soldier Club prize. Hot on his heels were Berryl Gray and John Peterson both o 25 and Don Grimston on 24. With daylight now around so late this is a great competition for all golfers to enjoy after work or on the weekend and only costs $7 for the 12 hole event.

Juniors

Tully juniors had a coaching day last Saturday with prizes for best chipping to Cathal Carragherand chipping and putting to Rheannah Webb. This Saturday is the final hit for the year with the Par 3 event teeing off at 8.30.

2 Person Ambrose Charity Event

For a small volunteer club Tully proved it’s worth by raising  a total of $2422 for the Goulburn  and District Prostate Support Group ($500) and Goulburn Community Health ($1922). Tully would like to thank the golfers and hackers who supported the day coming from as far away Nowra and Bathurst to enjoy the day. Also the following local businesses who chipped in with prizes and money; Woolworths Goulburn, Coles Goulburn, Bunnings Goulburn, marketplace BWS, and Rick’s Trees.

Winning teams for the day were Mens: Mick Kadziela and Mark Geale on 58, Social: Josh Cooper and Tom Dwyer 64.25,  Mixed: Anthony and Kerrie Cooper on 68.5 and Juniors: Richie and Lachlan Jiang on 86. Nearest the pins went to Tony Clewett on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 5th and Don Grimston on RSM 7th.

Notices: Thank you to all of the volunteers for their help in preparing the course and clubhouse for the event, your efforts are greatly appreciated and contributed to such a great day. Next Sunday Nov 27 is the Stroke monthly medal along with Gold Medal Playoff for 2016. Gala Day for the members is Nov 11, those who have played 10 or more comp rounds through the year pay $15 for the game and lunch, those members  with less than 10 pay $25/person for the 3 person Ambrose. Gala day tickets for the $500 Bi-Rite voucher need to be returned by Dec 11.

27 was the winning score for Don Grimston last week in the 12 hole event. John Peterson 26 was next best in with Ron Wenban third on 23. The rundown went to the three players on 22.

Tully Park Juniors

Jack Chamberlain and Henry Vandeven were the stableford winners for the junior event on Saturday. This week is a coaching session from 8.30 to 10.30 with the presentation day the following Saturday (Dec 3) with the Par 3 event. Cost $7

Sunday Competition

The Irish team Event where multiplying the individual scores for the team along the way give high totals  was won by the on target team of Gary Spence, Russell Lieschke and Eddie Hawkins with a score of 127. Closest challengers were the team of Rob Kelly, Ron Wenban and Simon Jiang on 121 and daylight to third with Anthony Cooper, Bryan Norris and Shane Cooper on  98. The individual winner for the day was Russell Schmitt on 42 points on a countback, Chris Elliott was nearest the pin on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole, Rob Kelly on the RSM and Lachlan Bill on the Workers Club holes. J Smith was the lucky number winner.

Notices: Next Sunday Nov 20 is the Charity Day for Goulburn Prostate Support Group and Goulburn Community Health. Tee offs until 9am with a lunch included for $20/person in the 2 Person Ambrose event for golfers and non-golfers alike. Nov 27 is the Gold medal playoff for 2016 for all of our monthly medal winners through the year. Others can play to get their name in for next years playoff event. Members with books of tickets for the Gala Day Raffle (sponsored by Bi-Rite) are asked to return all tickets by Dec 11for the draw.

Tully Park Gala Day is on Dec 11 – members who have played 10 or more comp rounds through the last year  cost is $15 and members who have played less than 10 pay $25 for the 3 person Ambrose (lunch included).

Eddie Hawkins was warming up last week with a win in the 12 hole event with 27 points. John Blair was next best on 26 with Kevin Breen 25 and Ratna Rankmore and Brian Larkin both on 24 for the rundown on countback.  For only $7 members and GA handicap players can enjoy this great competition sponsored by the Goulburn Soldiers Club.

Sunday Competition

The stableford event was won in windy conditions by Alan Bill with a great score of 42 points. Shane cooper 37 was next best continuing his good form from the championships and Bryan Norris  and Brian Mills both scored 36 in the rundown. Nearest the pins went to Ken Wray (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10) on the 5th, Simon Jiang (RSM) on the 7th, and Bryan Norris (Workers Club ) 8th. Anthony Cooper won the Mystery holes with 8 points on the Merino Fuels 3rd, Goulburn Soldiers club 9th and Kev’s Quality meats 12th.

Gouburn Soldiers Competition

Bryson Plumb was victorious in the weekly event last week with 23 points on a countback. Others on 23 included Ratna Rankmore, Tony Clewett and John Peterson. This competition is open to players every day of the week with all golflink golfers able to play. Men and women compete in this event for a cost of $7 for members and $8 for visitors. Thanks you to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for the $25 prize on offer each week.

Par 3

Kerrie Cooper has won her first Par 3 event with a nett score of 21. This social event is run once a month to encourage all people to have a game of golf. Junior winner for the day was Mary Hyland on 26 after a countback against her brother Will.  The next Par 3 is on Dec 3.

2016 Gold Medal Playoff

The playoff for the Gold Medal for monthly medal winners through the year is set for Sunday Nov 27. Along with the usual monthly medal the following players have the added chance to win the playoff between all winners from the year.

Championships 2016

After four rounds of golf the champions for 2016 have been decided. Gross winners for the A, B, and C grades were Tom Heath (319), Ron Wenban (354) and Shane Cooper (360) respectively. Nett wins for the grades went to Tim James (273), Ken Wray (289) and Simon Jiang (282) respectively. Tim James also won the Rocky Harris Memorial Trophy for best nett result from the championships.

Round 3 nett grade winners winners for Saturday were A Grade Tim James (69), B Grade Bryan Norris (68) and C Grade Alan Bill (69) with the rundown to 72 including R Schmitt (69), M Hunter (69), Tom Heath and Ron Wenban on 70.

Round 4 on Sunday saw the Eagles Nest shared between Gary Spence  and Marty Hunter on the inland 18th and 12th holes. Ron Wenban won the Stroke event and B grade medal with his 66 nett in a rundown to 69.  Tom Heath was the A grade winner on 67 and Alan Bill  the C Grade on 70. Nearest the Pins went to S Jiang (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole), M Hunter (RSM hole) and A Boxsell (Goulburn Workers Club hole).

John Peterson found his form to score 25 points last week and take home the $25 voucher from the Soldiers Club. Close behind were Tony Clewett and Ron Nunn both on 24 in a rundown to 22. The 12 hole weekly competition can be played any day of the week and only costs $7.

Major Championships

With rounds 1 and 2 of the Major Championships over the  leader boards show a few out in front but, anything can happen over the four rounds. Nett winners for round 1 were John Smith 64  (A grade), Eddie Hawkins 69 (B) and Shane Cooper 60 (C). Round 2 saw wins to Tim James 66 (A), Shane Cooper 66 (B) and Ron Nunn 68 (C). Gross leaders after round 1 were Russell Lieschke (74), Ken Wray (87) and Shane Cooper (81).

After the two rounds the overall standings have A Grade gross Russell Lieschke (155), Nett Tim James (133), B Grade gross Ken Wray (175) and nett Eddie Hawkins (142). C Grade gross and Nett to Shane Cooper 167 and 122 respectively.

Nearest the pin: Ray Turner landed closest on the RSM hole, while John Smith won a $20 voucher  for winning the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 as well as Workers Club with thanbks to A Cooper

Goulburn Soldiers Competition

Don Grimston hit his straps too late for the consistency competition but showed why he is always a threat to win a competition when he returned 27 points last week to just pip Darrell Spence on 26. The rundown went to a countback on 21.

Juniors

Tully juniors return Nov 5 for the Par 3 at 8.30am Cost is $7 with all players, adult and junior, welcome.

Sunday Competition

With the river holes re-opened after recent high water levels the competition was fierce for the 3 Person Ambrose. Eventual winners were the team of Ian Peterson and Chris and Phil Elliott with a nett score of 58.3 to just pip out Ray Turner, Chris Webb and Rheannah Webb on 58.7. A close third were Josh Cooper, Anthony Cooper and Bryan Norris on 59.3. Nearest the pins were not won on the Goulburn produce and Mitre 10 and Workers Club holes but the RSM 7th was won by Russell Schmitt. D Grimston was the raffle winner.

Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

Russell Schmitt scored 23 points last week to win the $25 voucher from the Goulburn  Soldiers Club.  Don Grimston and joy Leary both made 22 in a rundown that went to 20. The Kevin Allen Consistnecy Competition was concluded with this round of the weekly event and the best 4 rounds from the 6 weeks went to Russell Schmitt with a total of 91. A countback was required to split second and third with Don Grimston taking 2nd and Tony Clewett 3rd when both finished on 88 points. Thank you to V Allen for her trophy donation for this event.

Juniors

The Tully Park juniors enjoyed an ambrose event last Saturday with Nathan Chandola and Mary Hyland taking our first place.Will Hyland and Elliott Ross came in second for the event. Juniors take a break over the next 2 weeks while the Men’s Championships are on.

Notices: Could the Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition players please play the inland course for this week (Oct 14 – 21) as the river course was not ready in time for the commencement of this week’s comp.  Major Championships commence this Saturday with tee off all day so organise your playing partners or call the club for a time to catch someone else to play with.

November 20 is the Goulburn Prostate Cancer Support Group Charity Day with all monies over $500 raised going to Goulburn Community Health  to assist with the purchase of a new treatment chair for the Cancer patients. Tee off is from 7am to 9am with a 2 Person Ambrose at $20/ person and includes lunch. Make a team or come out and be placed into one for a great day of fun golf. All players welcome.

Kevin Allen Consistency

With the final round of the Kevin Allen consistency Competition concluding Friday 12pm there is another new leader and an open field for the first three places for the prizes. Tony Clewett has leapt to the front with a total of 88 points with Don Grimston only 2 away on 86.  Ratna Rankmore and Russell Schmitt are in striking distance of the top spot on 80 each and several others are close enough to find themselves in contention for second and third with one final good round. Thanks to V Allen for your support of the club.

Eddie Hawkins took top honours again last week with 25 points to hold out Tony Clewett and Russell Schmitt both on 24 and Rheannah Webb on 22. The rundown went to 19 on a countback.

Sunday Competition Memorial Day

The team of Phil and Chris Elliott proved too good on Sunday in excellent conditions scoring 46 points in the 4 Ball Best Ball event. Russell Schmitt and Chris Webb were next best on 45 and Lachlan and Alan Bill took third spot with 44. The memorial Day trophy for best individual score went to Tom Heath on 37 after a 4 card countback. Nearest the pins went to Trent Cooper with a cup edge finish on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole, Adam Boxsell won the RSM hole and Tony Clewett played best from the tee on the Worker’s Club hole. Todays trophy was provided by R & D Schmitt.

Juniors

Tully juniors enjoyed coaching this week with Ned Slater chipping in to win the chip and putt, and Blake Webb taking out the putting competition. This Sat at 8.30 is a competition before we break for 2 weeks while the championships are on.

Notices: Sunday Oct 16 3 Person Ambrose. Social teams are welcome and encouraged to be there to tee by 8.30am. Major Championships commence Oct 22 and 23 and conclude 29 and 30. Goulburn Soldiers Club Competition

John Blair won the weekly competition with 26 points last week. John Smith, John Peterson and Don Grimston all made 22 points and Joy Leary and Tony Clewett scored 21. The Kevin Allen Consistency Competition now sees Don Grimston in the lead on 82 with only 2 weeks to go and John Peterson and Ratna Rankmore both close behind on 79. Several other players remain in striking distance of the the three prizes up for grabs.

Sunday Stableford

Chris Webb scored 39 points to win the stableford event on Sunday. Tom Heath had 38 and picked up the nearest the pin on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole. Russell Lieschke  and Chris Elliott both made 37 will rue the few missed putts for their rounds. Ray Turner picked up the Mystery holes for the Millenium Windows, Kev’s Quality Meats and Goulburn Soldiers Club holes with 8 points. Lachlan Bill won the RSM hole and Phil Elliott the Workers Club hole for the nearest the pins.  Trophy by B Mills

Par 3

The October par 3 competition saw Josh Cooper take the win with a nett 20 for the round.  The next Par three is on Nov 5.

Championships Sat/Sun Oct 22 and 23, 29 and 30 cost $15/round.  Xmas Guessing Competition is on with tickets available for sale until Dec 4. All help selling tickets is greatly appreciated. Sunday Competition

Josh Cooper Is the September Stroke and B grade medal winner with a nett round of 64. Russell Schmitt was next best and A grade winner on 66 and Don Grimston took the C Grade win with 71. John Smith 67 and Russell Lieschke 70 were in the rundown. Chris Elliott won the nearest the pin for the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole while Alan Bill was closest on the RSM hole and Russell Lieschke won  the Workers Club hole.

Notices: Saturday October 1 is the Par 3 event with all golfers and non-golfers invited to play. Tee off from 8.30am to 3pm, no handicap necessary. Sunday Oct 2 Stableford and Mystery holes. Oct 9 Memorial Day and Tully v Workers Club. tee form 6.30am to 9am. Championships commence Oct 22 and 23.

Goulburn Soldiers Competition

Ratna Rankmore stole the show last week with 25 points for the win and the lead in the Kevin Allen Consistency Competition. Ratna now has 62 points leading Don Grimston on 60 and several others are in the chase in the high 50’s. The ball rundown included Jon Gegg, Trent Cooper and Tony Clewett and went down to 19 points.

Juniors

Jack Chamberlain won on countback over Ned Slater in the hunt for the junior stableford win on Saturday when both finished on 10 points. In heavy conditions the boys played well but were still only a few points ahead of their fellow competitors. Par 3 for this Saturday morning at 8.30 and bring your parents to show them how it’s done.
