Tully Park Golf 11/2/18

Sunday Competition

Ian Peterson’s nett 65 was enough to edge out Gary Spence, Chris Ryan, and Tom Heath all on 66 in the stroke event on Sunday. Chris Elliott made 67. Nearest the pins went to Phil Elliott on the Worker’s Club 8th and Gary Spence on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th.     

 Notices: Sunday Feb 18 Stableford.  Junior golf coaching has recommenced on Saturdays from 8.30 to 10am. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Thank you to the hard working volunteers who keep our club running.

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Peter Webster got back in the swing of things with his first competition round scoring 37 points for the 12 holes and losing 12 shots off his handicap. Also playing excellent golf for the round were Darrell Spence 28 and Chris Ryan and Joy Leary, both on 27. Making the rundown were Gordon Rankmore, in his return to competitions and  Martel Maher both making 26 and then to 23 points for Brian Larkin, Greg Maskill and Ratna Rankmore after a countback.     

Junior Pennants

Ned Slater followed from his first win with another great effort for round 2. He finished up 4 and 3 to help the Tully Park/ Gold Creek team to a 4 to 2 win on Sunday. Rheannah Webb went down 3 and 2 while Nathan Chandola made it to the 15th hole in his second outing for the team before going down 4 and 3. Next Sunday they play Royal Canberra at Royal.

Par 3

The February7 Par 3 event saw Jason Slater following in his son’s footsteps and scoring a win with nett 23 in the adult grade. Nitika Chandola has been paying to brother Nathan’s pennants and lifted to win the Junior division with a nett 19. The next Par 3 is on March 10.

Ladies

The stableford event on Monday saw Beryl Howe take a win with 37 points after a countback for the A grade while Ratna Rankmore took out division 2 with 32 points.  Nearest the pin on the Goulburn produce and Mitre 10 hole was Ratna Rankmore and the rundown went to 30 points.

Sunday Competition

Phil Elliott proved too good to score +6 in the Par event on Sunday and take out the win. Peter Wheeldon came into form with +4 for the round while Jeremy Harrison and Anthony Cooper each made +2 and Gary Spence +1 for the rundown. Nearest the Pin on the 5th (Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10) was not won and the drive and pitch on the Carpet court 16th winner was Russell Lieschke. 

 

Notices: Sunday Feb 11 Stroke.  Thanks to all of the volunteers for their time and effort over these hot summer months. Junior golf coaching has recommenced on Saturdays from 8.30 to 10am. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Par 3 event is on again on Saturday with tee off from 8am to 6pm to assist the twilight players. Cost is only $7 for some fun for the whole family.

Kerry Bensley backed up last weeks good round away to bring it home for 29 points in the 12 hole comp and sneak the win from Greg Maskill also on 29. Russsell Schmitt came in on 27, Chris Ryan, Beryl Gray and Brian larkin all had 26 and Bryson Plumb had 25.   

Junior Pennants

Rheannah Webb picked up from last year’s season with another win (4 up and 2 to play) to her list in the match play event and Ned Slater broke through with his first win (1 up) to help the Tully Park/ Gold Creek team to a 3.5 to 2.5 win in the first round. Nathan Chandola was unlucky in his first game and went down 9 and 7 to play. Next they play Fairbairn at Belconnen.

Sunday Competition

Tom Heath scraped home on a countback over Darrell Spence when both finished the Stroke event on nett 64 with Tom taking the A Grade Medal for January while Darrell took the C Grade. Gary Spence and John Smith both carded nett 65 and Phil Elliott took out the B grade medal with 66.    Nearest the Pin on the Workers Club 8th was Rheannah Webb and the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas 13th was Ken Wray. 

 

Notices: Sunday Feb 4 Par event.  Thanks to all of the volunteers for their time and effort over these hot summer months. Good luck to the three Tully park Juniors, Rheannah Webb, Ned Slater, Nathan Chandola, playing in the ACT Monaro pennants on Sunday for their first round. Junior golf coaching recommences on Saturday Feb 3 from 8.30 to 10am. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.  Saturday Feb 10 Par 3 event will have tee offs from 8am to 6pm (twilight). All players (golfers and novices) are welcome to play with both an adult and junior section.   

Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Greg Maskill backed up his 32 point round last week with a 29 point round for this week to again take the $25 Goulburn Soldiers Club voucher.  Brian Larkin came in with 27 followed closely by Eddie Hawkins and Kerry Bensley both on 26 and Ron Nunn and Bryan Norris on 25. Congratulations to Kerry Bensley on his 49 point round with the Highland Vetran Golfers  last week at the Gibralta course.

Ladies 

Tully Park Ladies return on Monday morning Feb 5. If you are interested in making a start at golf or want to join our ladies for a friendly round come out around 8.30 for the 9am tee off or call 48222828 and leave a message for Joy to register your interest.

Sunday Competition

Russell Lieschke braved the heat to score another win on Sunday in the stableford event with 40 points. Kerry Bensley scored 39 and also took out the Mystery Holes for the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10, Gordon Hotel and Argyle Cleaning  holes (5th, 11th and 17th holes) with 10 points. Making up the rundown were Alan Bill and Tom Heath (both 38), and Don Grimston and Chris Ryan (both 37 on countback).   Nearest the Pin on the Goulburn Soldier s Club 14th was Russell Schmitt and the drive and pitch on the Gordon Hotel 11th was Ian Peterson.

Greg Maskill set the bar high last week with an incredible score of 32 points for the 12 holes. His round included one 5 point, one 4 point and 5 three point holes. Next best was John Blair on 28 with Chris Ryan and Ron Nunn both on 26. Making up the rundown were Tony Clewett, Bryan Norris, Bryson Plumb and Kerry Bensley all on 23 on countback.

Sunday Competition

Russell Lieschke was returning to his best with a win in the stroke event on Sunday with a nett 67 while also taking the nearest the pin on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole. Ron Nunn was next best on 68 with Chris Ryan 69 (and drive and pitch winner on the Millenium Windows 1st hole) just ahead of Ken Wray and Tom Heath both on 70.

 Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole Comp

Russell Lieschke took the weekly double with a win in the 12 hole event last week with 27 points. Ron Nunn was again unlucky to be pushed into second place on 25 along with Don Grimston. John Blair made 23 and Greg Maskill and Tony Clewett both returned 22 points for the rundown.

 Par 3

The January Par 3 event was well supported last Saturday with 34 players having some fun in the ever changing weather conditions. Many were first time players from the MBK under 13 soccer team and it was Kilke Leten proving she has what it takes scoring a nett 17 to win the junior $25 prize for the round. The adults section saw several of the MBK under 13 team’s parents joining in as well but it was another newcomer to golf who stole the show. Kiley Lidgard produced an excellent nett 16 to win the adult section of the comp. The next Par 3 will be played on Feb 10.

Sunday Competition
Don Grimston powered through the heat on Sunday to finish with 39 points just ahead of John Smith and Russell Lieschke, both on 38. Graham Tasker was consistent with 36 and won the nearest the pin for the Goulburn produce and Mitre 10 hole while Gary Spence made up the rundown after a countback on 34 and also won the nearest the pin on the Capital Country Plumbing 7th.

Tony Clewett showed the field how to play last week with 30 points for the 12 hole event in a high scoring round. Eddie Hawkins and Ron Nunn each made 29, while Brian Larkin scored 28. Greg Maskill is getting his game together for consistency making 27 and Russell Lieschke had 26. Russell Schmitt scored and eagle on the Merino Fuels 3rd.

Sunday Competition

Jeremy Harrison finished in front after a three way countback on nett 63 on Sunday to win the trophy (donated by K Bensley) and be the final stroke and B Grade monthly medal winner for 2017.  Gary Spence was the A Grade winner and new member Bill Brodie was the C grade winner with both also on 63. The rundown for the day included Tony Clewett 64, Graham Tasker 64, Kerry Bensley 65 and John Smith 67. Tom Heath was nearest the pin on the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th and John Smith scored the drive and pitch on the Carpet Court 16th.

Alan Bill took the honours last week for the 12 hole comp with 29 points. Next best was Chris Webb on 25 followed by Ron Nunn on 24 and Russell Schmitt on 23. This great competition plays all through the festive season with thanks to the Goulburn Soldiers Club for their prize voucher each week.

Sunday Competition

A hole-in-one by Gary Spence on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 fifth hole on Sunday helped him on his way to 38 points but was not enough to give him a win in the stableford event.  That honour went to Josh Cooper who mastered the warm conditions well to score 40 points, just ahead Russell Schmitt on 39, Alan Bill and Chris Webb both on 37. Mick Harris rounded off the rundown on 36 on countback as well as winning the Kev’s Quality Meats drive and pitch on the 12th. The mystery holes winner after a four way countback was Tony Clewett on 8 points for the Antony Autos 2nd, Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 fifth and Kev’s Quality meats 12th.

Don Grimston finished a winner after countback on +4 for the Par event as all players got out early to beat the heat. Eddie Hawkins and John Smith also finished with +4, while Ray Turner and Jeremy Harrison both made +2. John Smith was nearest the pin for the Goulburn Soldiers Club 14th and Chris Ryan picked up the drive and pitch on the Lee and Thomas 13th.

Tony Clewett came home strong with 28 points in the 12 hole comp last week to just edge out Eddie Hawkins on 27. Beryl Gray, Russell Lieschke, Tony Grimston and Bryson Plumb all managed 24 for the rundown. The 12 hole comp is a great way to get a game in that doesn’t take too long and still only costs $7

Sunday Competition

Excellent conditions for golf saw the team of Lachlan Bill, Alan Bill and Chris Webb win the 3 person ambrose with a nett score of 54. Next best were Ray Turner, John Smith and Rheannah Webb on 57 then G Spence, J Harrison and E Sivell tied for third with R Stacey, R Nunn and C Eggins on 58.   Nearest the pins went to R Stacey on the Goulburn Produce and Mitre 10 hole while J Smith for the men and R Webb for the ladies won the Workers Club 8th.

Lucky draws for the day saw the Bi Rite $500 Xmas guessing competition prize won by G Cook, the $200 hoggett went to S McDonald and the $100 Marino Fuels voucher to A Piggott. Thanks also to Raine and Horne Real Estate for their generous donation of a new golf bag which was won by C Elliott.

Russell Schmitt scraped home with a win in the Goulburn Soldiers Club 12 hole comp this week with 24 points. John Smith and Greg Maskill were both close behind on 23 in a rundown that went to 22 on countback. This competition runs all through the Xmas season and is a great way to enjoy a quick round of golf with friends.
