Congratulations to our Victorious Penant teams
For a small volunteer golf club, Tully Park are riding high after the success of their junior and senior pennants players a week ago. The ACT – Monaro Edwards Dunlop Shield for the B grade Handicap competition has been won for the 11th time since 1959 by the Tully Park team, second over that period only to Queanbeyan (14 times) in the Canberra district.
This year the team was led from the front by pennants veteran Ray “Tonk” Turner with a 2 up result for his win in the grand final over Capital at the Federal Golf Course. Other victories on the day went to John Smith (2 and 1), Adam Boxsell (2 up) and Tracker Tahana (5 and 4).
Unlucky in their rounds were Marty Hunter (1 down), Chris Elliott (4 and 2) and Josh Cooper (2 and 1). Congratulations to all of the players on a great win and for their efforts in maintaining a proud record
for the local golfing community.
Congratulations to the Tully Park trio of Rheannah Webb, Jon Gegg and Trent Cooper on their contributions to the win by the Gold Creek Tully Park junior pennants team in the ACT-Monaro Final. All three Tully players won their respective matches on Sunday against a strong Federal- RMC team to give Gold Creek- Tully a 4 to 3 win.
With close scores of 2 up, 1 up and, 2 and 1 respectively Trent, Jon and Rheannah have all done themselves and their club proud in a tight match that drew a gallery around the 18th green to see the final putt by Trent that sealed the match from the three all tie that had eventuated.
Tully park juniors are off over Easter but return for the par 3 event on April 2 at 8.30am
Players interested in qualifying for the Men’s Fourball Par event need to have their names registered at the club and the $5 entry fee paid by the end of April. The format has changed, (it was the Fourball stableford event). The event will be held in conjunction with the Par event in May.
